Question.......the rules state you can't charge Fanatics, but if you charge a unit and move through those Fanatics via the charge, does that take the Fanatic out and you are dealth 2D6 S5 hits because of the initial impact and the Death Throws?

Or no matter what the only way you can kill a Fanatic ( other then ranged / magic) is to simply "move" into contact with it, in which turn you recieve the 2D6 S5 hits? Which means charging through it, you take damage, but it is still alive swinging away as you've left it behind you?

If your charge MOVE takes you on the fanatic you indeed activate it's death rule.

Wouldn't charging into a fanatic stop your charge? [if you're charging the unit behind, not the Fanatic] It's a separate unit.

Are you allowed to declare a charge through an enemy model?

That's a good point, guess you really can't charge then.

Hmmm, interesting.

I think that just makes things messy. Its probably best to not have them block charges just for simplicity sake. If a unit charges through them you remove the fanatic(s), inflict 2D6 hits, and resolve the charge as normal.

Otherwise things get fuzzy and arguments could ensue.

They dont block charges, as you can still complete a charge against the unit - the specific rules for the Fanatic dying mean it is not in the way of the charge any longer

Are you able to declare a charge that carries you through an enemy unit, even if that unit must necessarily be removed during the course of the charge?

I agree this is a silly consequence of the Fanatic and charge rules.

edit: note that I'm discussing a case when the fanatic has already been released and is standing between the charger and target; not where the fanatic is released during a charge.

You are only prohibited from declaring charges that cannot be completed

THis charge can be completed, because the unit in the way dies as a consequence of being moved into.

This would be the same for the Mangler Squigs.

The "Force of Destruction" (fanatic), and "Force of Total Destruciton" (Mangler) rules state they cannot be charged but model can move into contact with them.

This is the same for Orcs and Goblins as well as it enemies. (Try losing 17 of 35 Big Uns Orcs because the Orcs wanted to charge the unit that was on the other side of a Mangler Squig)
