After having general success with this list: HQ: Farseer w/ RoWa, Guide, Doom, Spirit Stones, Spear – 138pts Elites: 5x Fire Dragons – 80pts Wave Serpent w/ Shuriken Cannons – 100pts Troops: 10 Dire Avengers w/ Exarch + Dual Catapults, Bladestorm – 152pts Wave Serpent w/ Scatter Lasers – 115pts 10 Dire Avengers w/ Exarch + Dual Catapults, Bladestorm – 152pts Wave Serpent w/ Scatter Lasers – 115pts 5 Dire Avengers – 60pts Wave Serpent w/ Scatter Lasers – 115pts Heavy Support: Fire Prism w/ Holo-Fields – 150pts Fire Prism w/ Holo-Fields – 150pts Falcon w/ EML, Holo-Fields – 170pts Total - 1497pts And netting WDL: 2/0/1, with the wins against a fluffy-ish SM, an IG force that wasn't too competative (to me, anyway) and the loss against a mass psycannon GK force (10-man terminators - combat squaded, terminator librarian, 10-man strike squad - combat squadded, 10 purifiers - combat squadded, and two psyriflemen, everything with psycannons apart from the dreads, who had ACs with psybolt ammo, and everything in some sort of cover, and spread out to reduce hits from the prisms), i've come up with a newer list: HQ: Farseer w/ RoWa, Guide, Doom, Spirit Stones, Spear – 138pts Elites: 5x Fire Dragons – 80pts Wave Serpent w/ Shuriken Cannons, Spirit Stones – 110pts Troops: 8 Dire Avengers w/ Exarch + Dual Catapults, Bladestorm – 128pts Wave Serpent w/ Scatter Lasers, Spirit Stones – 125pts 8 Dire Avengers w/ Exarch + Dual Catapults, Bladestorm – 128pts Wave Serpent w/ Scatter Lasers, Spirit Stones – 125pts 5 Dire Avengers – 60pts Wave Serpent w/ Scatter Lasers, Spirit Stones – 125pts Heavy Support: Fire Prism w/ Holo-Fields – 150pts Fire Prism w/ Holo-Fields – 150pts Falcon w/ EML, Holo-Fields, Spirit Stones – 180pts Total - 1499pts It takes some power from the DAs in order to fund Spirit Stones, because i'm really on the wall about them. In games where I use them, I never seem to get any use, either I become immobilised, i'm simply never stunned, or being stunned anyway wouldn't have mattered; but in games where I don't have them, I get chain-stunned. Simply put, i've never actually experienced a game where I thought "Having/Not Having those Spirit Stones was a good idea". After the GK game, where if I wasn't stunned then I could have won, or at least pulled a draw, despite everything being else immobilised left, right and centre (both Prisms were down very early on, despite Holo-fields), I feel like I should trial SS a few times more to see how it goes. Having the last serpent chain-stunned and having my objective'holding avengers fail morale on boxcars killed it, and if the serpent had been mobile, it would have been a definite draw, with a win if the avengers had held. Star Engines i'm not sold on, mainly because it seems like i'm loading excessive points on. I could fit them easily if I toned both bladestorming squads down to 5-man DAVUs, but bladestorm has worked okay in the past (nothing like people make it out to be, but okay regardless) so i'm not ready to drop them yet. On Night Spinners, they're not worth it to me. Barrage means nothing because they're easily visible on these boards, area terrain is abundant, and i'm relying on Rending and dangerous terrain for kills; it's too unreliable. Under different circumstances, i'd try them, but I just feel that prisms serve me better.
