I'm just getting into the hobby and thinking what if I combine the two fleets as I like defenders and have a custodian already

Which Tau list are you going to use? Forgeworld one or FAQ/Compendium 2010 list?

In 750pts I would go for Protectors/Castellans, or in your case Defenders.

I can't find the FAQ as the only links I've found are tinyURLs which my computer docent like:(

But castellans don't look great to me, I much prefer the defenders which are cheaper than castellans for an added bonus!

In the Forgeworld Incarnationm Castellans are identical to Defenders regarding weaponry but +5pts and a better turn rate.

Thanks, I paint them like my ground tau- same as in the big rule book for 40K or desert camo with hawk turquoise sections(I don't know how to post pics from my iPod :( )

you'll need to upload your pictures to a image hosting site like Picasa, Imageshack, photobucket, stashbox, etc

Or into the gallery of dakkadakka itself.


On your list 1:
If you take a Custodian you are paying 15pts per grav hook which are measured from the Warden. So to be cost effective you must always take 3 Wardens with a Custodian.

I would mesh list 2 &3: 2 or 3 Protectors filled up with Castellans. Most flexible.

you should make an account on those sites, but perhaps uploading from a pc is easier.


Within 750pts the Custodian is a point sink, but lets see:

Custodian + 3 Wardens = 420pts.
That is 330 left.

Add 1 Protector. -> 145pts left.

Ideally Castellans would cost 45 pts (or the Protector 180pts)....

So add 2 Castellans and have pts spare or ask your opponent if it is okay to have 5 pts over.

Tell him horizon said that Castellans are overcosted by 5pts.
