For a long time now i wanted to start a plague marine army. And that day has finally come. I have been working on this for about six months now, well not all of it. I started out with the a couple of models and some ideas. Now I back in the full swing of things trying to get back my eye for painting. This being my first blog and first set of pictures on DAKKA I figured, hey whats the worst that can happen. Right now most of everything i have is at a WIP stage. I have one model actually painted and the rest are getting there. So lets start this off with, What else... YELLOW PLAGUE MARINES!!! I plan on doing about 4-5 armies, and the first one that i have going is of course a Nurgle army.

I tried to find the perfect color. I was thinking lime green, Orange, even pink. Then it hit me. Jump on dakka and see how other people paint their models and see what i like and take ideas from other people. Its the American way. So after looking at all the plague marines i could find, I found out one thing. Every one seems to like a pail white and green mix with a lot of blood and gore. Personally i can't stand that. So i went with the next best thing. A clean looking yellow. I am shooting for a nice clean army. Maybe one that just turned to Nurgle, or they just like to have them selves look clean. Over all i think it helps out the models. As you will see. I don't mean a pail clean yellow. I mean an Imperial Fist bright yellow.

Right now my army Looks like this,

3 Daemon Princes, 1 winged
2 Lords, 1 Terminator, 1 Winged
6 squads of 8 Plague marines. yes thats right, 8 in a squad. Not seven. I have been called an anti-Fluff NAZI and i hope to keep that title.

Because there isn't much point in posting pictures of models with three colors on them, I am going to avoid posting models that aren't finished with painting. I paint the model dissembled so a lot of them are missing arms and the such. so pictures are going to go up of half way done and finished. Along with all the WIP models that should be posted. But to kick things off here is my Finished Daemon Prince. And please remember to leave messages, you won't hurt my feelings with comments. So feel free to speak your mind (Keeping with in the guide lines of DAKKA rules) If something Sucks, tell me, and tell me how you'd fix it. But with out further ado





This is the First Daemon Prince i have done. My basing is grey rock and brown ground. Just to match my home board. More to come.

A while back i got a blood thrister off ebay. The paint was a normal ebay paint job. The model was held together (kinda) with pins, and the head had green stuff piled on like you wouldn't believe. So after cleaning it up and putting it away, I finally came back to it.



All this goes together and with a little bit of green stuff it ends up looking a little like this. This build took me about a day, and a long night. Its not close to being done. But work continues on it. And if you noticed, the date on my camera is off. These pictures where taken this year. I'll fix that after the first wave of photos.

I thought hey, what is the weapon all models that are nurgle needed? Yup you guessed it. An over sized scythe. Everything is pretty rough right now. But after i get the wings on it and some more work done with the green stuff. I think it will come alive. I plan to add some tusk and a pig nose to it. It already has the curly tail. Might be kinda hard to see but that will all get better. The pictures aren't the best. Working on getting a new camera. But buying models and a camera seems like the hardest thing to do with out money. So I will work on that and get things going.

Whats better than a greater daemon of the blood god switching sides? another one doing it. The first daemon was a 3rd ed one, this one used to be a 2nd ed one. Its not any where near done. I am going to add a barrel of waste to his back. Its hard to tell from the picture and no base, but the model's back is arched and is about to fall over back words. It keeps with the Bio hazard look that i am going for. I'll get more pictures when this model is further along.

Keeping with the massive amounts of Hq, Here is another one. Terminator armor lord. Just a normal Terminator lord. Forge world body, Lord legs. and a Space wolf head. I like using the space wolf heads. I like the most of them better then almost every other head out there as of now. The arms are some what done, just need to find them and figure out how i will gear him out. Right now he will be using a chain fist and a bolter.

That is another scythe, If one is good two must be better. The legs came from a metal grey knight champion, The head is a space wolf, and the wings came from some model or another. With the scythe being that of typhus. Of course a plasma pistol just to make the point that if you don't kill me i will. Here is a shot of just the torso to get a better idea of the base model that i will be using. Again all of this is a WIP so far.



The images are a little blurry and i will work on that problem when i can get a better camera. More than likely i will re upload the images with better pictures in the future. but till then, Moving on. and last but not least is a couple of models i have done. Because of the metal and resin models that plague marines get, I only have 8 different poses. Who would have guessed it. So with 8 man squads and 8 poses, I decided to bulk paint the same pose at once. These are the ones that are done. Of course i have a complete squad getting painted a slower way to see if there is a difference in painting styles. But i don't know if i would ever use six squads. But here you go a couple of pictures to end this first post with.





I'll get a couple of group shots and start to get things going. Feel free to leave any comments. And Remember what Bob Ross said, everything needs a happy little friend to stand next to.

Well Boys and girls, I have been hard at work trying to get things ready and painted. But after i counted the models i have left to paint and realizing that they are in fact the same colors for all the Plague marines. I got brunt out. But i have done some work on other models and came up with a few ideas. I was thinking about this, A sergeant becomes a lord, a lord starts to become a daemon prince and then becomes one. So i have made three models that all look the same. Different poses, same head. And different jump packs. One to act as a winged lord with daemon weapon. The next to be a jump pack lord with power weapon. And a model to be a sergeant just in case i don't have the points or want to run something else as an HQ. So i have Sergeant, Lord, Grand Lord and Daemon prince. Thinking up some names for this man among men, I have settled on Spanky. So I have Sergeant Spanky, Commander Spanky, Lord Spanky, And the Great Spank Spank. I this is just what i needed to get me out of the painting of the same models over and over again. Here are a few WIP pictures as they stand now. They are just primed and torsos and legs with a head. But its to hard to paint with a jump pack on them. So here you go.


Lord Spanky, a Winged Chaos lord. This guy will have a plasma pistol and a daemon weapon.

Another Craptastic picture, But this one is the sergeant that will be with the raptors. Sorry for the blurred pictures, i had to rush through them. Wasn't given enough time with a little hell raiser running around.

The legs of all three models was taken from metal grey knights. So on the better side of things atleast three grey knights won't ever see the table top again. Just doing what i can to limit how many i have to look at. On to bigger and better things. I got a blood thrister off ebay. and well. Lets say it wasn't in that great of shape. But after some work i got this out of it.


Its not the greatest thing. But most of the detail on the model i liked. I took off the horns and added some tusks. Took off the over sized hands and traded them out with some smaller better looking ones. I went ahead and took off the entire right arm and the elbow down from the left. Added some more of the wires (Dreadlocks) and put its wings back on. After bending them down and making them look more like wings. If you see the wings to this model before, they are pretty much flat. With no life.


After you look around whats in the room you'll notice a blood thrister, The picture isn't great but, I added a tail. and thats about it to the back. I am going for a daemon boar feel. With the tusks and the tail.



After some time and some paint this is the blurred mess it has become.


Right now it is just some base coats and a little work done to it. After i got this far i had to see what the model size was like. I wanted to know if this thing could ever get cover


Judging by the small models i get to use, Thank you GW, and the large base. I don't think i would ever get cover. But you know. I don't think it will need cover. First turn it should be dead and off the table. So this model will be more or less a cheerleader.


Just a quick look at the wings. I went with green wings (base coats only at this point) Just trying to stay with my army colors. In hopes that it will be tied together in the long run.


So I am trying to get all the models i need painted and ready to actually play. Right now this blurry picture is the bases for all my troops. I realized that bulk painting was the only way i would get this done in a timely fashion. I have about three other armies i want to get started on. and Right now painting 5 models at a time isn't doing it for me.

Right now my plan is to get the daemon princes done and ready for the table. Get my lords ready and all that while working on the Troops. After wards i have raptors to get done, and about 3 dreads and about 6 rhinos. So all and all i think i have a ways to go. But i think i can get it done Hopefully before the new codex drops, and the new rules. I hope that they don't nerf this army. I would actually like to be able to have fun with this army. Knowing GW they will either make Chaos the worlds best, Or the worst.

I have been looking up some fluff and was thinking of what this army is trying to do, But really there isn't much fluff that i can think of. Its a straight forward stabby kill kill army. The only thing that i can come up with is that they are stuck guarding a bio waste planet. But i don't know where to go from there. Conversions in this army are kinda rare at this point. I don't like the Forge world models and i like them to be nice and clean looking. So the main conversions will be the Daemon Princes and the greater daemon, The dreads and maybe some more things along the way. Future armies that i plan to do will have more conversions. And will go above and beyond the call of duty. But right now, I think a rock solid, Good looking table top army is what i want. But more to come. More pictures. Please leave your comments questions and what ever else you would like to leave. Requests can be taken unless you want better pictures. Right now its a little hard to find a free good camera. But still working on that part. So till we meet again.

Just a quick update, No pictures this time. I need to get some more things done. I got all the bases done for the troops, Now i just need to figure out how i will make raptors a little more nurgle with out going over board. I am hoping not to have to use an icon. Maybe making another base with an icon on it and moving that with the model its on. Kinda like the DA helmet barer. With the new codex suppose to be dropping here pretty soon i don't want to have to go back and tear arms off models and do some hard core rework on painted models.

I have the arms for each one of my spankys primed and i started work on the power fist. taping it off to get ready for the warning strips and the rest of the paint. As it stands i have my 6 squads of 8 all on bases and i need to get them painted. painted and glued 38 bases. I didn't think it would take that long. But like always i was wrong again. So thats up and going and i have a good idea of what this army will look like when its finished. I am shooting for a Bio hazardish looking plague marine army. Bright yellow suites with a silver/brass outline around the armor. I also got some more shoulder pads, As it stands now i will have the right arm with the nurgle fly shoulder pad, and the left arm i will use a different one for each squad. So i have a plan shoulder, a skull with a down arrow, a ram's skull with a down arrow, and the ultra marines shoulder pad with the skull. I'll get pictures up when i can. Every model will have the Nurgle fly shoulder, besides the daemon princes.

I need to take pictures of the board i have been working on, those will be on the way. Along with some terrain pictures. I just need to find the right thing to make the terrain out of. I am going for mostly piles of rubble with barrels in them. I want the board to look like a toxic waste dump and the terrain to be just hills. Something that blends together, The hills and the board will match. There is just something i can't stand when the terrain and the board don't match. You have light green on the table and a dark green hill, Doesn't make much sense to me and doesn't look all that great. I might make a couple of bunkers or the like to have more buildings. But right now i have three boards in mind and one is a city fight board. So i don't want to go all out on buildings on this board.

i'll try and get more pictures and see if i can get them cleaned up. So more to come.

I haven't yet had the time to read everything (but I will do it later whe i have more time!) but your painting looks really good! I especially like the Nurgle DP!

Wow, i didn't believe people when they say that when others comment it keeps them going. But its actually try. I thank you both for your comments, Today i'll have some free time away from the little devil. I'll try and get some more pictures posted and some things painted. I thank you both and i hope you enjoy this Blog.

Well everybody, I am back with a couple of more things. I have been painting on some things And had my first game. Now i haven't gotten very far on everything in this set of pictures but i have more pictures to take of where i am now. I made a photo box, I like how the pictures are coming out when i use it. So on the plus side of things, There is movement in a forward direction. Just not enough for me to be bragging about. My first battle report will be posted here to see what you guys think of it. There will be more to come but for now i have these to share.


He is back and with more color and a little better photo, This time i took the date off the photos. Yea look at me learning some tech things. Yup i know i only had to click three buttons to turn off the date. But you guys are lucky i am not trying to draw the images on the computer screen. So here is the Daemon Prince, You guys are probably getting sick of seeing this one model. But till its done it will have a place in this thread.


A close up of the wings and what not. Kinda blurry, But i am working on everything and hopefully will have a good camera some time soon. I went with the skin tone on the wings and a green for the skin on the wings. I think it makes it look more like a nurgle daemon prince. Its suppose to be a lord that has become a daemon prince. So i figured that it would use its own skin tone. Kinda like growing at an increased rate. Rather than changing colors completely.


Here is commander Spanky, The Jump pack lord. He is still pretty wip, Needing more washes and the arms put on. I have the arms going and after they get to a good enough point and its safe to put them on i'll get more pictures of it. The legs for this model are a grey knight pair, (old metal) and the jump pack is the chaos lord with jump pack lighting claws jump pack.


The back of Commander Spanky. Pretty much nothing else to say. I went with the red cords because of the lord model i have and the first daemon prince. If the cords are ribbed they get painted blue, If they are smooth, they are red. Just to keep the army looking good and uniformed.


Lord Spanky, A winged chaos lord. Its WIP of course and needs some washing done to most of the model. This is Spanky becoming more of a daemon prince. This guy will be smacking people with a daemon weapon. So i don't know if he would ever see play. But who knows, I asked around and most seem to thing his wings are to big for him. But if you look at the daemon he becomes, Its just an early start on those massive over sized wings. But let me know, Are his wings to big? Can you have anything that is to big?


A rear view of him. Nothing to great. But just felt that you guys would of wanted to see more of his wings. Of course the base is done the same way every model's is. You start with a massive rock, some sand, and some paint. Call it done.

I had one picture of the sergeant but. It was a beyond crapptasic photo. So it got deleted. I'll see if i can get a better one and get him going. After playing the first game i have played with a chaos army, I realized that my board needs more terrain. So i started off on that venture. So here is what i have.


Its all pink foam sitting on a base board. I am going for a toxic dump, with some pipes sticking out to really help things out. I was thinking about terrain that blocked line of sight and gave high pints for long range fire to take place from. Right now the models don't slide to much and the terrain actually works. It needs a good coat of paint and some more work done. But hey you gotta love Works in progress. More terrain will be made for this board. Then after that i will start on the next board i want to make. Chances are it will be a city fight. Maybe not a major city, but a big town or small city. I want to have a trailer park in the middle of it. Kinda to give it a homie feel.


This blurry photo is of course the army i have kinda done. They are standing on my personal board. The photo isn't very good but i'll get better ones and photos of the board. I'll get more posted some time later today. or maybe tomorrow. Its hard to tell what i am doing from moment to moment.

This army is coming together and i am thinking of the next army i want to build. Its either going to be a space wolf army, a Marine army, Or a sisters of battle army. If its a marine army i am going to remake my first army from way back in the day, a ultra marines army. This time done thousand times better. The sisters army is something i wanted to make back in third ed. But i didn't have the cash, and then witch hunters came out... And kinda screwed sisters of battle. A wolf army would be my all termie army besides the thunder wolves. Chances are that i will Turn this Plague marine army into an all plasma army. I just love plasma a little to much. After 6th ed comes out i will be able to see what rules for tanks come out and see if i should drop the meltas, till then its meltas.

So while i get this army going, and when its close to being totally painted i'll start the next army. I don't have much to go. Just need to get a couple of dreadnoughts, some rhinos, and some havocs. Unless my list changes some. What do you guys think about using plague marine models with jump packs as raptors? It would fit my army and if the new codex lets me take nurgle raptors it will fit prefect. I think i'll do the same thing for the havocs, Plague marine models with heavy weapons... The battle report will be posted when i get more time to throw it up on here. So good bye till later.

He played with the models he had, So this was what i was facing. Now keep in mind that this is the first time i have played chaos, and its the first game i have played in a year, and the first time i played necrons (new dex). So i really don't know anything about the necron army. But here we go. We jsut decided to play a standard kill points mission on a 4x4 table. I won the roll to go first.


I planed on him trying to flank, So i spread out most of my forces, making sure that i didn't have to run very far to get into combat. I placed my daemon prince in the middle, with raptors on either side and the three plague marine squads mixed in. If you are wondering whats up, These are my WIP models. Just testing out the models and the board. This is my personal home board that hasn't been used till this game.

My opponent Places the monolith across from the prince, The ark on the far right (my right when playing) along with the scarabs and the over lord. With one warrior squad next to the monolith and the other on my far left. He rolls to steal... AND GETS IT. First game in a while and i already get kicked in the nuts. So he takes his first turn. Moving everything but the doomsday ark up. Shooting kills a couple of marines. And one wound on the prince.

My first turn i start to move up. The daemon prince jumps forward to hit the monolith, the Raptors on the left try and get to the doomsday ark. and everything else moves up to deal with the necrons. A couple of melta shots get wasted on the war lord, he passed his cover saves from turbo boosting. The daemon prince assaults the monolith taking it out. and is left in the open for more shooting.



His turn, and a mean one at that. He first flies the warlord over the daemon smacking him around, Assaults the raptors with scarabs, and blows more holes in me with. I moved as many models away from each other as i could but doesn't help much in the long run. I lose quite a few to more shooting. The scarabs don't roll to well and lock the raptors in combat. The daemon prince takes another wound from shooting.

My turn, The daemon prince jumps over the warriors, 2 squads move up to shoot down the warlord and on the far left 2 squads move up to take care of the warriors on the left. Looking at the doomsday ark i know the prince can't reach it so i don't try. The warlord gets knocked by melta fire and the squads get ready to attack him. The daemon prince charges the warrior squad. The raptors stay in close combat vs the scarabs, The power fist being the only thing working. 2 Plague marine squads assault the 12 man warrior squad and blow through them moving up to melta the warlord to death.



His turn again. And again there is much death. The doomsday ark is living up to the name. He takes another squad almost out. I drop to the ground and hang on for dear life. At the same time the gods rain down plastic drink cups. The lord charges the last 2 raptors on the left side of the board and kills them both. The daemon prince is still in combat with warriors. And the scarabs are out living the other raptors on the other side of the board.

My turn, I line up three melta guns and blow the warlord out of the water. The daemon prince still can't do anything useful and the raptors on the right are sitting there trying to get out of the scarabs. One of my units hit the ground hoping to live for another turn. None that got wounded lived. But i couldn't pass up the 6+ save. Right now the game is looking in my favor, One warrior running from battle still shooting at me gets smoked when i repay the favor. My opponent rolled low enough for his one warrior to rapid fire me twice before i turned a unit around and repaid the favor. It was called over kill, I called to vengeance. The daemon prince finally is starting to knock out some of the warriors.



His turn saw the end of his warrior squad and the end of my raptors. So right now he is down to a scarab squad and a doomsday ark. Which is enough to keep me at bay. My daemon finishes the warriors and moves in for the ark.

My turn, The marines move trying to get to cover. and the daemon gets up close and personal with the ark. After spending three turns in close combat with warriors, This move doesn't look good. I run up and hit the ark. I do nothing.



From here on out there aren't any pictures, the game went to the last turn,

His turn, He turned his ark and unleashed it into my daemon prince. He didn't get the chance to use his cannon. The hail of gun fire from the other weapons was enough to wound the daemon prince six times and take him down for good. With the daemon prince gone there isn't much hope.

My turn, Moving units to cover as much as i can. At this point in the game i was 1 kill point ahead. And trying to hold on to it.

His turn, He shot at my untis

My turn i hide for cover and tried to move to get the scarabs, couldn't roll more than a 2 to get out of cover. Not enough to get them.

His turn... He killed another unit Leaving me with one

I still couldn't roll to get out of cover, damn ones and 2's.

The game came down to a draw, 5 kill points both sides. The last couple of turns went by with just a shot being taken. I couldn't get a high enough roll to get out of the terrain and make a run for the scarabs. Probably a good thing. If i would have moved out he probably could have killed my last unit winning the game. Over all the game was fun. The dice hated and loved both of us. and in the end This was one of the most fun games i have played. Please comment and tell me how i can make battle reps better for the viewing audience.

Daayuuum, these are some excellent minis.

All i have for you guys is a quick up date. Not to much. Not to little. First off i would like to thank those of you who have commented. The Battle report you guys read was actually really close, The game was kinda one sided but then again wasn't. I had all the tools i needed to be able to fight a close game and so did he. More battle reports will come in the future, More than likly i will post a link here and the actual battle report in that section, Unless other wise noted by you guys, Then i will post in both places or figure something out.

Jumping into this short post,



Here is sergeant Spanky, Still a WIP The jump pack is primed and needs painted. He will be int he raptor squad when i don't use a jump pack lord or a daemon prince with wings. Kinda a replacement sergeant for my raptors. He will be armed with a power fist and a plasma pistol. Nothing to great about this guy. His legs are metal grey knight legs. The head matches the rest of the Spanky line. I'll get him done in a little while.





The front and back of my winged chaos lord. The wings are pretty much done at this point. All i really have to do with this model is get the arms done and put on the shoulder pads and some black wash and some brass to cover the metal with. Other than that this guy is done. I put a gloss varnish on the wings. I wanted just the wings (and anything else that looks slimy) to be covered with a gloss the rest will be a mat or none at all. The rest of my army has green slime all over the place and will get the same thing done. Personally i think it makes it look a little like slime. But this model is coming along and is getting ready for his final set of pictures.



One last look at the slime covered daemon prince wings. I think these came out really well. The daemon prince will take more time to finish then any other project. I have washing to do on the bones, high lighting. And his right hand needs his bag put in. Just need some time to be able to deal with mill i put.

I was looking through the sisters codex and found some cool ideas and i think that will be my next army. Its not the worlds greatest thing i know. But there is one simple twist, I hate the sister models (or atleast just about all of them) so i plan to get a frame made up and try my hand at scrap building a sister at of green stuff and the like. So if all goes well i will have my sisters army that i have wanted since they had their own codex. and a nurgle army that i have wanted since 3rd ed. I have some free time today so i'll start work on painting some troops, and working on my sisters of battle.

I'll get some posted along with some ideas about how to base future armies and even more pictures.

I like the First Nurgle DP, though I think the red/blue power cabling doesn't go too well with it.

Yes its really yellow. I wanted to do a color that i haven't seen before on plague marines. And the one color i kept coming back to was yellow. The photo aren't the greatest but I don't think they are the worse.

I haven't gotten a whole lot done. Mainly because my friend bought Space marine for the ps3. So i have been playing that. Just to let those of you who haven't played this game yet. If you don't like on line play its best if you rent it for a couple of days. The campaign is about 4-6 hours long and its pretty much the same thing all the way through. You mostly fight orks and late game you start to fight chaos. Right now its a pretty fun game. The jump pack is a little funny, Its harder to control then one would think and doesn't allow for very much.

The game takes place on a planet where the orks are attacking IG, The ultra marines are sent in to secure certain points before the main strike force shows up. So its pretty much the main character and two other guys running around being space marines. Moving forward you meet up with NPC's that move the story along. The weapons you get go with the table top game almost to a T. The player will get the bolter pretty quickly, There are ammo pick ups every so often along with grenades. New weapons to upgrade yours with. You always have the bolter and a pistol. Any weapon that a tactical marine can get, This game allows you to get along with a new sticky launcher. The enemies are from the table game for the most part. Some have changed a little. There aren't any named characters from the table top game, But they might be from the book series. (Forgive me i haven't read the books) Like all games with a flying mechanism, there are points where you can and have to and other parts where you can't.

Online play, There are two basic game modes on the online. PVP and a co op arena type battle. Both are pretty fun. The online community isn't as bad as the call of duty series. And the game over all is more balanced. You level up to unlock features, and Complete challenges to unlock others. The characters are customizable down to different armor, and color schemes. The loading isn't bad. And over all its actually enjoyable. PVP brings up issues that can be over come by play time. Co op grants levels and unlocks weapons and perks, The same load out can be used for PVP and co op, Chaos and Space marines are both playable. Only issue is that chaos gets plasma cannons. Seems off for those of us who play chaos but it isn't a huge deal. Online allows you to play as a tactical marine assault marine, Or a devastator. weapons and perks depend on what class you are. You are able to change what class you are and change the weapons and load out you want.

If you plan to buy the game to play online, buy new or buy the elite pass. A new copy comes with the pass. Its the only way to progress to a higher level than 5. All the fun things are a level 5 or higher thing. The game new isn't to bad. I haven't seen the prince of the elite pass from the PS store. There are 2 DLCs atleast for this game. But online play is split up so you can still get games with out having the dlcs.

My Personal opinion, Its fun. Hours to enjoy. The main story line is dry and feels like playing in circles. The graphics aren't the best, But playable. The game plays like a line. You go one place to go another. There isn't very much free roam with in the world. There is little back tracking, And the game doesn't try and hide anything from you (Besides auto logs that where ment to be hidden) The boss fights are Badly planned. The bosses fight with a wave system. Kill this wave and another one and a third one. The end of the game leaves some to be wanted. The end of the game is craptasic and could have been done a lot better. Online is fun but is limited. If you don't play online, rent the game and play it first. Until the price goes down. You don't have to know what a space marine is to enjoy the game. And wouldn't really help if you did. There is a lack of replay value. One player with online co op.

Judging this on a ten star rating i would give it 8/10 if you rent. and 7/10 if you buy.


Other than playing that game a lot. I got a couple of colors down and some terrain worked on. Its been hell around here, so i'll try and get some more done and some new things working on. I'll try and get it all posted as soon as i can.

Well guys just a little up date. And a little rant. The rant first. I think its about time to gets this out in the air. If you haven't notice my avatar, I live in a mobile community, aka a trailer park. I don't mind this fact. I actually like it. The problem is the people i live around. Its not the loud music. Its not anything really besides 2 points. And i think these 2 points will strike a note with us all. The first point. Is of course, How come no one can fix a muffler? I mean really is it that big of a deal to go out and get a good muffle on your car? I have been trying to paint for a while now and it seems like there are those total a holes that can't buy a muffle driving up and down the street. I can't hear my self think because of these d bags. The other point is this, I have to drop my kid off with his mom, Every time i leave. I have exit onto a side street to be able to get onto a main street. And for some reason, I think god hates me, I always get caught behind people who think they are being safe by driving about 20 mph under the speed limit. For those of you in other countries, The speed limit on this street is about 30 mph, i don't the kilometer for this, but drive down a road with some one going 1/3 of the speed they are suppose to be going. Now i don't get made about things like this. Its the sheer fact that if there is any one in front of me they are all going that slow. I'll tell you guys what, Its the most painful thing i can't avoid. Went to hang out with a friend one night, I had to drive 6 miles behind a d bag who didn't realize that the speed limit was 45, HE WAS GOING 20. I am talking about a main road way here. A five min. trip took about 30 mins. and i finally was able to pass him and get up to the speed limit. only took 2 mins after that point to get to where i was going. If you haven't had the problem where you are stuck behind a veteran, I swear they are the slowest drivers in the world. Thank you for serving, now move... I got things to do. I don't know the number of d bag idiots in the world. But they must make up at least 75% of all people with DLs'

Getting onto something other than me being mad about things i can't control, Sorry no pictures in this post. Right now i have plague marines being painted. and let me tell you after getting one color down. The rest is going easy. I'll try and get some pictures up here pretty soon with what i have. I have about 28 marines being done at the same time. I am thinking I want to use ork sluggas instead of bolters. I had this idea and enough people have done it in the past, That im sure it would look good. The only issue is that i like bolters, so if i can find enough sluggas i will go that route. Chances are its bolters all the way.

After getting some gaming in on the good old ps3, I took some time and tried my hand at sculpting again. its been about three tries. All trying to get a good looking sister of battle. so far not so good. so once again that is placed on the back burner. and i think i will be doing a space marine army. Right now i think i will do a pre heresy iron warrior army. Doing a bunch of work on the lascannons, I don't like the sniper rifle look. I am thinking of something more like the heavy flamer. or the heavy bolter. Have the model holding the lascannon at its side rather than on the shoulder. Redoing the back pack, and maybe even taking the back packs off the models. This along with a couple of Hq's. A master of the forge with a conversion beamer. Some thunder fire cannons set up to look like stationary three prong cannons. I don't know what all else i want to do with this army. My major issues, of course, are if there won't be an 'Ard boyz any more, then there isn't a point in having a larger army. I can still catch a game of a larger point value. But, its going to be rarer than its been in the past. So i'll be playing mostly the same people.

I have a mental issue where i can't stand the same thing for long periods of time. You can call it ADHD, or anything else you would like to call it. Of course i haven't gone in for help. But because of this, I am always looking for the next thing i want to do. And with one major project coming to a close. Plague marines are almost done, For the most part. Just need more models and to paint them. So i will be starting in on the next project. Which like i have said is the iron warriors. I said space wolves or sisters of battle. But i think i will go marines. I wanted to remake my first army and redo ultra marines. But every time i look at them i realize that there are to many in the world. I have seen some iron warriors done. And i think i want to try this out. I love the yellow and black cation strips. More then likely i will be changing some things around on them. But the over all scheme will be the silver and gold. I just can't figure out what i want to use. I don't plan on having 4k points of them. Maybe some where around 2.8k or a little less. This is the list i have been playing with so far. Keep in mind this is a rough list and i will be posting this in the list section also.

But here is the list for the next army i am thinking of. I am going for lascannon spam gun line.

Hq-Master of the forge with conversion beamer
Hq-Servitors unit of 2 with plasma cannons

Elites- Stern Guard units, 5 men, 2 lascannons in each. Three of these total.

Troops-Tactical squads 10 men squads with lascannon and melta guns 4 of these. Mainly for close up anti tank pop.
Troops-Tactical squads 10 men squads with lascannon and plasma guns, 2 of these. Close up unit kill.

Heavy Support-Devastator squads, 5 men with 4 lascannons. 3 of these. The first thing to go to get to a lower point cost are these. 4 lasscannons in these squads are just over the top stupid costing. I was thinking about doing a lased out pred. But one shot can take it out. And i don't like the idea of a tank being in a trench.

So all that after doing the points is close to 2500, to get to lower points i'll take more things out and add in thunderfire cannons. When i make these I will not make them on tracks. But instead on a tripod. Like old WW2 cannons. They I think will look better and give the army a better over all feel.

Doing some looking around on the 40k wiki, I have read up on the iron warriors. And all the things they have done and i am oping to recreate an army that is close to what they where like before hand. Sorry for the long post with no pictures. But like i said. A video game came out and i haven't had much more time to paint. Coming up next week Pictures of terrain, Pictures of terrain on the Board. Pictures of the army and where it stands at this point. So all this and more next time, same channel, same time.

MrMerlin I thank you for posting replies to this blog. I will get more pictures up and chances are they will be in a huge block of photos. I think its pretty much world wide that old people suck at driving. We'll all know the end of the world when the younger people can't drive and the old can. If that day comes i'm running to the nearest GW store. I would love to see new models for sisters of battle. Of course i wouldn't be able to use them with the whole end of the world thing happening. But hey at least i will see them right before we all die.

Well every one. I have had a little free time and the what not. Not enough for another game. But just enough to get some things painted and made and all of that. I have been up to quite a bit here lately. I have been abusing my netflix account and watching everything i can possibly watch. I have pretty much finished with space marine. The game was ok, not great but ok. And i have some more games i might start to play to break up doing the same thing over and over again. Don't worry you guys will see here pretty soon. Right now i have more pictures for you all. Right after a couple of words. I kinda wanna know how you guys feel about pot heads. I get the kid ready and head up for the gas station. I get the things i need/want. The kid grabs his drink and we are heading up to pay for everything. In front of me stands this D bag. He has four items, No big deal. After he gets his change back im standing there for 4 mins. At the same time my kid is trying to break up his drink. I finally tell the dude behind the counter what i need and the guy in front of me finally realizes that there are more people in this world then him and his wallet. How long does it take to put your change away? Should i get the wallet with the built in safe? How can people take that long. I thought for the bulk of my life, That when you get change back, You throw it in a pocket walk out the store and deal with it later. I guess this a Hole just wants to make sure that if some one steals his wallet, that all the bills are front facing and look damn good. Some people in this life. I tell you, their parents shouldn't have any more children. But hey enough about me going off on an idiot, who doesn't know where he is or why all his money comes up missing.

Here are some pictures of the things i have been up to. First off i got some pictures of some nice looking and blurry marines. Yes thats right. I finally started to paint the rest of my plague marines. I know you guys are getting close to being sick and tiered of seeing the lords and the daemon, So here you go. Six photos, Five of which look like the same models. But aren't.



A group shot of the whole cast and crew. There are 5 squads of 8 marines here. The sixth squad i have is being outfitted with jump packs and are going to be raptors. Just haven't started on them yet.











Ok boys and girls. That is all for those pictures. They are painted the yellow you all have seen and all love. They have most of the paint on them. I went with a white front on 2 of the models. I couldn't tell what they where suppose to be. So i said sure, I'll go white. The green needs its high light and varnish. The silver needs the tin bitz added. And the yellow needs the black wash, Along with the flesh tone. Personally i like these models. I think they will turn out great. The shoulder pads are going to get primed when its no longer raining. The arms are being worked on. I need to get enough of the arms i like and enough bolters to really make this army feel good to me. I am thinking about trying to get some sluggas instead of bolters. They look so much better to me. It gives them a rough and wild look. Just need to track down enough. The melta guys will still have meltas, and the champs will still be carrying around those power fists. So Just need to get cracking. I have the arm pads for 4 of the squads, I am talking about the right shoulder. The left i have enough of the Nurgle fly Plague marine shoulder pad to give every model in the army one. But for each squad the right shoulder pad will change. To help show what is in what squad. I have 4, A blank one, A tactical one with a skull, A tactical one with a rams skull, And the ultra marines one with the skull. YES YOU HEARD RIGHT, Ultra Paguemarines, First time any one would be dumb enough to place an ultra marine arm pad on a plague marine. But i will do it. And it will be awesome!!! As for these guys and what they are riding in, The top hatch will have the nurgle fly on it. The side doors will have the right shoulder pad on it. Showing what squad is riding in what rhino. I figure that even though they are chaos, They still like to have their own rides. Seems kinda funny if they didn't.

Side note, And no one takes this as any thing but a joke. Would it be funny to have a space wolf army all with no helmets, Painted to look like a bunch of black men and call them the Space Dawgs?

Back to the action. I got the terrain worked on. I took pictures, but its finished now. Here you go, Wip photos of the terrain.





Thats right, All WIPED!! If you are asking, The black stuff is sand, The pink is foam. The base color is House paint grey. And the screw driver is a Stanly. I was going to use my knife. But i like the edge on my knife. Now here is what it looks like now.









This is the hill top, Couldn't come up with a better name. That pipe has some battle damage painted and The marine is there for a size comp. Moving right along.





This is my Big rock. Its thinner and blocks line of sight. The thinking is, That the game will be better if terrain did what you would think it would do. No more being able to shoot at every thing on the table.





Another rock. Really these are the scraps from the other terrain, But they turned out really cool looking. And they should meet the ends i want. The size comp is a little off, Just because plague marines are a little smaller than a normal marine. But no one has to know, And y'all won't go telling people, Now will ya? More still coming!!!







I am unhappy about how these photos came out. But hey you guys get the point here. There are 2 ramps that lead up to a pipe line that goes through the middle. Standing on either side breaks line of sight, Standing in the middle grants cover from the pipe. And yes that is a try at battle damage, I might go back on these models and work on the pipe. But this is good enough for home terrain. I have another hill type thing that i am working on. Just need to cut something for the base board and get it painted and worked on. It will be in the second wave of terrain. I still have a bunch of terrain that i want to make using barrels and toxic waste.







I know you guys are asking your selves one good question. And that is, Why only five hills and rocks and crap. Well coming this week end i will have a picture of my board up with out cups and models on it. And you guys will see that my board is covered with terrain already. So making a ton of terrain to put on a board that is in its self terrain, Is just what i will be doing. Of course i want to make a board for each army i have or will have. That way when i play at home, I will truly feel like i am home. Plus i don't want to have grass based marines walking over lava, ON MY OWN BOARD.

The next army i am making is going to be the pre heresy Iron Warriors. And i think i will make them standing on the ruins of a city. So more grey but with what looks like the ground under them. I am trying a new basing idea i have. It might work, Might not. But you guys will be there to watch as i either screw up, OR MAKE AWESOME HISTORY!!! But right now i am working on my count as whirl wind/ thunder fire cannon. And will began work on my lascannons and conversion beamer. So thats all up in the air right now. I will also have to sculpt the shoulder pads for them. I don't like the slide transfers and can't find enough to out fit all my marines with them. And if i can get a hold of some extra cash i will be working on the sisters army. I have a plan to make some great looking, Hot, nuns with guns. Just need to get the models and work with them to figure out if i am wasting more money then i need to.

Also since everything but the terrain is still a WIP, Your old friends will be dropping back by. That includes Sergeant Spanky, Commander Spanky, Lord Spanky, And the Great Spank Spank. Along with the third daemon prince. A Canis wolf born. And a Lilth. And if i have the time and i find the un sold eldar i have running around i will post them up as well. Kinda like a here and now vs back and then type thing. So i hope you guys are still reading all this and I hope you enjoy this Blog. Dude i thank you are awesome. Thank you for the comment. Any ideas on a what i could be doing better? Also i have some of the pads done up, and in the next over done post i will put them up with some more things painted and ready to go. Thank you for your comments and i hope you enjoy.

What could you do better? Well, I cant tell you how to improve your terrain, it already looks really cool. But I think you could improve your marines by adding more definition. A wash for example. Get devlan mud, it looks great on yellow and makes everything look somewhat dirty, perfect for nurgle. I use it on my orks all the time!

The marines still need more work. Right now i am thinking about black washing them. I love devlin mud, All my Hq's are washed with it. I think its the best wash out there right now. My next army isn't close to be started but their board already has terrain being made. With out a board to put them on... Kinda finny. Hello Every one. Its good to have something else to post. Around here, I have a lot to do on a daily basis. And its getting harder to find time to paint and get things the way i want them. I get about 5 hours sleep a night and its starting to catch up to me. So right now here you go. This is what i have done so far. And remember, It takes me a while to get things painted. Mostly because its all the same thing i am trying to paint. For the moment.

But of course before the pictures and before i get onto other topics. I have an up date on the next army i will make. I have been looking around and i think i have an idea at what is going to happen next. With out knowing whats in the next chaos codex i think i will finally do another army that i have wanted to do for some time now. And that would be a Tzeentch army. I love the lord of change model. And the horror models. The problem with that is. Chaos daemons suck. There isn't any way around the fact that I haven't seen a good daemon army in a long time. And i haven't ever had an issue with playing against them. So in order to get to use the models i want, and see have fun i have decided that a thousand sons army will be up and coming. Using the lord of change model and the fate weaver model as my 2 daemon princes. And i think i will have some fun with conversions and what not. I will get some mock models made up and see what i think and post them to see what you guys think. Also the iron warriors are still coming. Just want to finish my plague marines so i can get some games in. And have fun with the thing that i have spent all this time on. Sisters of battle are going to be coming also. I think i have a sure fire plan as to how to get them looking good and playable. So there you go in order of the things i will be doing,

1) Iron Warriors
Custom Lascannons, Master of the forge models, Pre-Heresy
2)Thousand Sons
Greater Daemon Princes, Custom Heads and models. More conversions then any other army thus far
3)Space wolves
Mostly thunder calve, Logan wing army. Nothing Great, Might get bumped For something else that comes along
4)Sisters of battle
Total over haul. I will convert every model in the army and have fun doing so.

All these armies, Or the armies that i actually get close to finishing, will have a custom board made for them. Just so i always have the right basing.

Another battle report will be coming this week, Late in the week. Its going to be a 2.5k or 2k battle report, Playing the same person in the first. But with a different army. Any comments to make them a better read please post!!

This list will change and will be added to and more than likely, I will work on all the armies at the same time to keep things interesting. Seeing how i only have the one army. And the models are past the point of being interesting.

So at long last the very few models that i have done or are close to being done.

I took one picture of each model in the squad and here you go. They all look just like this. A little different, But nothing so huge you can tell. Starting with the sergeant. Now for something else that is still wip. But works great for what it does. This is my game board. Right now it comes apart into three parts. Just to make it easier to store and handle. So that is three 4x2's putting them together grants you one 4x6. The parts aren't interchangeable. Here you go.



Thats right even this picture is blurred. But thats the board as it stands. If you see grey, That will be covered by sand, and painted. I use a man made sand. Its medium pebble. And smooth. Its not cat litter, or play sand. Cat litter is way to jagged, and play sand isn't even. So when playing on it, models have issues standing straight up and even more so on play sand. Right now this started out as pink foam. The creators are carved into the board. So no moving them. The board is still a wip. But will have pools of toxic looking crap on it. Along with the second wave of terrain with barrels of toxic waste. My house rule is, If it looks difficult it is. So the rock looking stuff is DT the brown ramps aren't. I wanted to be able to make a board on the other side of this one. So no permanent hills only creators. This board matches my terrain, and the bases for my plague marines. Kinda great how that works out. It kinda burns my nutts to play at some one's house on their private board. And have to deal with their models being based on rock and we are playing on grass terrain. If its your own board at least make it match one of your armies. Chances are, After a friend of mine gets his army based, and if i like his basing, i will base an army to match his, and make a board. So when we play every thing will look right.

You wanted to know how to improve your battle reps. I'd say take more pictures, that should do it. The more pics, the better the report!
Also, have you tried using sponge weathering on your marines? Like on my trukk, it might fit there.... you just have to be very subtle....

I try and avoid weathering, I have an issue with over doing it. I might find some marines and try it out. More pictures you say. Hmmmm, I'll have to try that. Maybe this time make sure my opponent doesn't leave his cup on the board for three turns. Thank you for the in put.

Hello good people of the dakkaverse. I am back with the little amount that i was able to get done. This week end was a little busy. I took the kid to an easter egg train ride thing, which took the whole day. And along with some other issues and me getting some sleep i wasn't able to get as much done as i wanted. I did get to play a game friday and that will be posted here coming up soon. But right now i just want to talk about why this game is called game. Its a funny thing, we play games to have fun, or to get something out of it. But when some one comes around and ruins the game by making it a WAAC type of thing. The fun gets taken out of it. It becomes a hobby. And personally I hate when that happens. I am glad to say that the games i have played since coming back, haven't been that way. Then again i have only played one person, and i have always had fun playing that person.

Its hard to believe that there are people in the world who seem to think that winning is every thing. I am not talking about tournaments. I am talking about just a run of the mill game, A one off game. There are enough people here on dakka, that won't ever read this. That jump to the best army out, and run the best builds. Do those people really have fun? At what point do people stop playing them and let them have fun playing with them selves?

But right now its picture time. A while back, Before my plague marines where built i was thinking about playing space wolves. And this is the first model i bought for them. After finally getting it put together and fixing the molding mistakes because of fine cast. I want to show you all my space wolves paint scheme.





I more than likely spelled his name wrong. But we all know the model. I had to do so much work on the wolf's chest and on the rest of the model. But it came out and got primed. The base isn't done. It needs some grass put where the dirt is. But let me know what you guys think? I will be doing this on all space wolves i do. Which are quickly becoming my next army.

Moving right along, This of course is going to be a short post. Sorry but i couldn't get enough done to make this thing any longer. Here you go i got the sergeant on his base and his arms are just about done. More when i finish it.

The first one is made using krazy glue tubes. They turned out to be the right size. The terrain will be painted some time coming up. So who knows i might get some pictures up pretty soon.

Well i finally got some time to post this battle report. Right now i'll just post this thing in this thread and than another one in the battle reports section.

Plague marines Vs Khorne 2k. The lists.

I have my Plague marines, pretty much the same list. here you go.

Lord w/ wings, mark of nurgle, daemon weapon, plasma pistol

His list, And while doing the math it figure out his list and to be able to do this battle report. Some bad math was found and the list is actually over on points. The game was rushed due to time, so the math is kinda off. This was done by mistake. And was found out after the game. But other than that, please dismiss the math, and enjoy the list he brought.

That is his whole list. a ton of bodies and 2 tanks.

The game was standard, 4 objectives.

Pre-game, In our group, we don't gear out our lists for each other. We bring armies to kill each other and have fun. I had to borrow 3 of his rhinos, mine aren't done. So he decided to bring a massive foot pounding army. Turns out this is a weak point for me. We have played many times in our past, games going back a couple of years now. Because of this, i know his game plan. Come forward and kill me. So lets get onto the pictures.





Ok so Get first turn, I stack 2 rhinos on one side. With the raptors behind it and a daemon prince behind them, trying to keep out of line of sight. The last rhino is on the far side going for the far objective. the troops out of the rhinos, are set up to take the far left objective and the middle objective.

He places both preds in mid field, and 2 squads on either side. An hq on both sides. unlike the last game we played it doesn't steal. And i get the first turn.



I move up everything, trying to stay behind rhinos for cover. and trying to stay out of line of sight. All the rhinos pop smoke just in case i feel lucky. I get my marines to a point where i think i am safe. No shooting, a little running trying to models where i want them. the raptors jump up and get into a good place. I moved the rhino to block him from going to the left of the terrain.

His turn



He moves up, running to get up nice and close. The smoke saves me, My rhino gets hit and can't move or shoot. Nothing else really happens.

Turn 2, Turn harder. ( yes a die hard reference)



I either lost the pictures, or named them something and can't find them. Turn 2, I jump out of the rhino getting behind terrain. I move things back, Trying to get out of charge range. so i can counter charge. The other side of the board the same thing is happening. I am keeping all my marines out side of the 12 inch threat range. So i don't get beat by a red headed step child.

His turn 2

He moves up, getting closer and closer. He blows up the far right rhino and kills a marine of mine. Nothing really happens this turn. Just because its getting to who gets charge will have a massive upper hand.

Turn 3,

I have no good pictures of turn three. And didn't up load any of them. So this is what happen, He is close enough for me to be able to charge his far right squad. I take my daemon prince, and 2 squads of marines into his one squad of zerkers. On the left side of the board, i miss the charge with my plague marines, so my lord and the raptors move in and get the charge. On the right side of the board i get a huge win, killing all the zerkers and only taking a ton of wounds. So i am down to 2 half squads and a wounded daemon prince. On the right side i deal some wounds, get some kills. tie combat with him.

His turn 3

the back up squads with the HQ's move up and join the combat. Khorne comes up and kills my lord, but my lord swings back and takes out some models in the squad. lots of death, my raptors and the lord die, he moves the wounded squad back to avoid a counter charge. His other unit is tied up with a couple of squads of plague marines. and his last full strength unit with his lord is moving up fast.

Turn 4



After blowing through one squad, I try and move back to avoid the counter by the lords squad. I have the upper hand at this point. I am feeling pretty good. My dice have been the best they can be, but begin to fail me. and his dice that have been acting up are starting to get hot. times are good but bad news is coming.



a blurry photo, shows the best picture. He gets the charge with his massive squad into my little squad. There is no helping them, The daemon prince takes a ton of wounds. and ends up dying.

Turn 5







This is the bloody after math. My daemon is dead, the 2 squads on the right side of the board are dead. His lord taking his toll on me. It was a great try, but he had to many men left. on the left side of the board, Kharne decides to join the fray, The squad that i left on that side tried its hardest to deal with the rest of the men. But with kharne running around killing things. Its hard to really get a handle on things. Kharne not once hit is own squad. I kill off the one of the squads, while he splits his untis and charges my far left squad. Its a bloody mess. kharne charges into the 2 three man squads.



On the far left, i have a couple of models left, Against his almost full unit. Kharne charges into 2 squads, he kills one of them out right. and the last three men, missing the power fist swing back and kill kharne. Going onto turn six i have 4 models left on the board. A guy in close combat with about 7-10 zerkers, and three guys trying not to die to lasscannons.





Turn six. The final round. I am down to 3 models, taking lasscannon fire. I go to ground and hope i can live. I can't win at this point.





So he left with 3 objectives, and i didn't have a model left on the board.

Post game, I tried my hardest to avoid the charges, but i couldn't kill the number of models he brought. With my Hq's not actually doing much, and his cleaning house, it was a one sided fight when it came down to the end. I missed one charge that i really needed. But on the bright side of things i took down kharne with three marines.

It was a fun game with some bs moments, but over all a great game. Because of this game i have decided to add some back line fire support and move things around my army. I hope you enjoyed.

I also really like your terrain! My own terrain consists of a green carpet, a single cardboard ork tower, some meh-quality hills and lego structures......

My terrain is the easiest thing to build. I was planning on doing a tut. but i haven't decided on if i will. They are just normal hills. But they fit my board. Do you guys want a tut. on how to build and paint the terrain? Give me some feed back as to what you guys would like to see.

After that game i have deiced to get some oblits. Right now i have some typhus models that i am working on. so here pretty soon, i'll have 3 squads of 2 oblits. to help with not having a back line.

But a little non pic up date. oblits on the way, Terrain being finished, almost done with the first squad of marines, space wolves getting going. I think i'll do space wolves in the little down time i get.
