So I might be attending a 2000 pt tournament this Saturday at my local GW. Here's what I'll be bringing- please tell me what you think of it.

Slann Mage Priest- BSB, Cupped Hands of the Old Ones, Focus of Mystery, Focused Rumination, Lore of Light- 395
Scar-Veteran- Sword of Strife, light armour, Enchanted Shield, Luckstone- 148
24 Saurus Warriors- standard, musician- 282
24 Saurus Warriors- standard, musician- 282
10 Skink Skirmishers- 70
20 Temple Guard- standard, Banner of Eternal Flame- 344
7 Chameleon Skinks- 84
Stegadon- 235
Salamander Hunting Pack- extra handler- 80
Salamander Hunting Pack- extra handler- 80

Total: 2000

The idea is, the three infantry blocks cluster together to benefit from the Slann's LD and spells while Skinks, Salamanders, etc, all annoy the enemy on other fronts. I'm confident that I can do well with this list as long as my blocks manage to get into fights on their terms, and my Slann's casting doesn't fail on me.

Any thoughts on this list? In particular:

1. Should I go for Life instead of Light?
2. Should I find a way to get more Skink Skirmishers in the list?
3. Should I drop the Scar-Veteran for a Skink Priest?
4. Should I reduce some Saurus to upgrade the Stegadon to an Ancient?

Thanks, any feedback would be really appreciated.

The steg is going to be a giant bullseye for every cannon you come up against, also why no musician in your temple guard? I prefer life but it depends on what armies your most likely to face!

I'd say the only Stegadon worth taking is an Engine of the Gods. Otherwise you will watch a 100 point cannon eat your 235 point model.

I always like Lore of Life over other lore. Excellent buffs and one of the best damage spells in the game.

So other than the Stegadon change, I like the rest of the army. You may have to drop both the Stegadon and the scar vet to make points for an Engine though.

As opposed to watching a cannonball eat a 350-pt model? I see the advantage of the Engine, and have used it quite a lot, but lately it has done nothing but underperform for me. :(

Any good alternatives to the Steg?

If no stegadon at all, 2 units of 3 terradons would do well.
