Just thought I'd mention a new gaming club started in North Devon.

Meeting every Monday 7pm til late at the Golden Lion on the square in Barnstaple (we have an upstairs room, but yes, there's a bar for those of legal age!)

All games played, Warmahordes, 40k, Fantasy, this past week there was even some Battlefleet Gothic going on. If you can find an opponent then you can play the game.

Still very early stages, so are in the process of getting tables, terrain etc together, but any support would be more than welcome.

Hope I won't get boned for threadomancy but I figured I'd give this a bump.

We've been up and running a while now, regularly get 20 to 30 people turn up each week, a Warmachine slow grow is just starting and the CCG side is really strong too. We've a couple of hhistorical gamers and plenty of 40k and Fantasy players too.

All in all the club is going great, but we can always use MOAR PLAYERS!!!

Just for information

As of this week, the time and venue has moved.

We now meet at 8pm on Mondays at St Johns Community Hall in the Tesco complex in Whiddon Valley, Barnstaple.

Now have a lot more space, we can, with no exaggeration, now run Apocalypse tournaments if we decide to.

Also have a large Tesco and a Subway on hand as well for drinks and snacks as well as plentiful free parking.

Door charge remains 2.50 and while we are now well established we are always happy to welcome new players.

Thought I'd better give this a bump, as I've taken it on myself to try and generate more members, while we still regularly get excellent turn outs, if we allow ourselves to stagnate then we will ultimately peter out!

So..what's been going on since the last update?

We have now secured the hall for the whole evening in Mondays, we had previously had to share with another group in the early evening, so we now start at 7pm til late (basically for as long as one of the key holders is happy to stay)

The price is now £3 to cover the extra hour rental on the hall, but we still offer a massive amount of space, loads of scenery and a very permissive attitude to gaming (if you can find an opponent, you can play, and if its something a bit unusual you'll probably get an audience too!

We have well developed 40K, Warmahordes, Infinity, X Wing and Historical player bases, as well as players who have forces for Malifaux, FoW and WHFB, but you will probably need to arrange a game in advance for those.

The 10th Aug marked the first Barnstaple Slayers Brawl, a multi system tournament which was a great learning experience for those of us organising it, and apparently a lot of fun for those participating. We plan on running big contests like this twice a year, with smaller events in between.

Then you can stay informed as to when they happen, we're working hard to try and grow the wargaming community in the South West, and forge better links between the existing clubs and groups, won't you join us?!

There's a slight chance I might be getting a promotion which means moving to Barnstaple in the next coming months, might not happen but if it does, i'll definitely come along to this club!

Long time no update.

This is to notify anyone who may discover this thread in a search that as of tonight (10/10) we will start meeting in the Golden Lion Tap function room, which is on the square, the pub couldn't be more central, from 6pm.

Plenty of parking nearby, plus easy access to the bus station and well within walking distance of anyone living in the centre of town.
