Envision a combat thus:

-- : Chaos knight
T : Chaos Troll
M: Marauder who is having a bad day.

Combat thus:
-- M M M M M
-- M M M M M
-- M M M M M
-- M M M M M
-- M M M M M
...T...T...T...T
...T...T...T...T

So the knights and the trolls, which have both charged (the trolls failed stupid and then rolled a 6 on their d6 :-D ), succeed in killing every last marauder and decorating necklaces with their teeth. The question is, In which direction does each unit overrun? My assumption was that each unit would overrun in the direction its already facing, with the possibility that whichever one goes first could roll low and block the second one. However, my opponent maintained that since the rulebook says "an overrun move is a pursuit move, except there is nothing to pursue," that you still have to figure out which way a pursuit would have happened if a unit were around to flee, and then overrun in that direction. In this case, since you flee from the largest model count, the marauders would run from the trolls, and the knights would have to shuffle around and chase in the same direction. I think that's unbelievably stupid, but given what I saw in the rulebook, also correct RAW. What do you guys think?

1) If you fail stupidity you cannot charge. Read the rulebook again
2) They overrun in the direction they are facing, meaning that depending on how far everything moves they may block eachother

nos, you're normally right about things. Can you provide a page reference or are you relying on RAI?

p. 58. "If the victorious unit charged into combat and the enemy was wiped out, it can move 2D6 inches straight forward."

Straight forward doesn't mean you pivot or wheel. It is exactly what it says, straight forward.

THANK you. My faith in silly doll and dice games is restored. Or something.
