I know its not a squad used very often (mostly because the stats are garbage) but what models would you use for a Penial Legion squad? Im mostly trying to find something that does not look like its completely military. Thanks as always Dakka.

Catachans with orange vests.

I picked up a couple boxes of the static, mono-pose cadians. I painted them in bright orange jumpsuits with numbers on the back. They are a distinct look in my army and are impossible to confuse with the rank and file blobs I have.

They're called Penal Guard heads and Penal Guard torsos. Very cool stuff!

I use tallarn guardsmen for my penal legion, I think they add a certain flair to my Praetorians.

Mordian Iron Guardsmen. Stubborn rule fits their fluff.

But you don't want that. I would say standard cadians with as many of them without the helmats as possible. Painted orange with black armor.

Cadians with Catachan heads could work

Empire Flagallents with Catachan arms. They have a nice gritty look to them. The scale between the arms and bodies are different, but, what sort of prisoner would not have bulging arms.

Clanrats with lasguns and a belt full of gear. Or they will be when I get my hands on more gear.

Clanrats! Wow, they must have come from a really dirty prison!

I use the old Necromunda Delaques (the trenchcoat dudes) for mine. They look sneaky and untrustworthy.

I would not use the Cat arms, the Flagallents arms look lean and scrawny and have chains and cuffs on them.

If GW loved 40k fans as much as fantasy fans the IG sets would have alternate heads and all their special weapons.

But they don't.

They hate their fans almost as much as we hate them.

Mostly because we didn't buy Scary Boats.

This is, indeed, why things that are of high quality and superior craftsmanship are not to be in our possession.
