Why didn't you do a GT? Just curious.

Weird but happy for the extra advertising I suppose.

There were several reasons that I didn't want to do a full blown GT. Mostly it was to keep the cost down both by keeping the entry fee day and to make sure that if people wanted to just come for the day, they didn't have to go through the trouble of spending money on a hotel. It's also that we, the 11th Company, are just running the event, not in charge of X-Con. I didn't want to get into a major event without having a lot more involvement with the entire event.

I posted about the tourney because I hadn't ever seen you post here and wanted to get the word out.

...

I think the decision to run two separate events is just fine. I think it's a unique way to do things and opens up some weird possibilities. I can, for example, run two different armies. So if I get bad match ups on day one I can try to adjust for day two. But there's not guarantee that that will help because most likely there will be at least some different players on day two and any changes I make may set me up for failure against them. Other players can also make adjustments or switch out armies. The two tourney configuration should also eliminate the player drop out problem that some of the bigger two-day events run into.

Appreciate the help. You are right, I don't post often on Dakka.

So any updates on the event?

I'm playing both days. Since the two days are separate events I was thinking about changing my list around after the 1st day. I'm not really going to be able to test it the way I would like before the event. I was wondering if there will be on-site Army Builder and print support on the second day in case I wanted to change lists out.

I'm bringing two lists personally...two seperate armies for kicks and giggles.

I would say bring a copy for both just in case you get the itch to change. I've got a buddy bringing Blood Angels and Black Templars because he can't decide.

I thought about bringing two different armies as well.

You're right, I could bring a different list down for the second day, but for me it would probably end up being 30 lists because I'll want to cover every possible configuration change based on how things go on day 1.

Heh, that's why I'm only bringing 2. Keeps me from doing that crazy thing where I stay up all night wondering what I could change.

Bump!

As for updates, we will be going entirely paperless this tournament. I have completed an entire scoring software suite which will handle pairings, data entry, etc. Should be very interesting!

We've still got plenty of room! Had a lot of sign-ups this past week, and am pushing hard to get more. I know we can do better with the local area!

You can e-mail me: 11thcompany@tangtwo.com if you have any questions.

I'll have army builder on site to check everyone's lists during the event. So, you will be welcome to build lists and print them for day 2.

Just a reminder, you need to buy a con ticket. If you do so prior to the event, it's $10. If you don't, it's $20 at the door.

The X-Con event organizer told me we have some people who have purchased RTT tickets but not weekend badges yet.

Not gonna, easily one of the best events I've gone to. Was a blast both days and some amazing competition.

As an aside on the food, Par from the 11th Company had mentioned the food was not to good and coming from him I stayed away. Hopefully you're over your troubles soon.

As for results, see the following:

Day 1 Overall: Dark Eldar
2nd Runner up: Blood Angels
Best General: Space Wolves

Day 2:
Best Overall: I.G.
Best General: Orks (20 Nob Bikers...yeah, suck on that internet)
