A) How is this a Cavalry list? Looks like a typical Space Wolf list to me. I was expecting more TWC and minimal troops, or Fenrisian Wolves as troops.

B) Make up your mind with your Cavalry. You got some weird choices there. For example, taking two Storm Shields with Meltabombs makes no sense. You'd have only 2 wargear groups, not 3, so your wound allocation fails. Also, spending 90 points on Storm Shields is silly. 30-60 is plenty.

I shield per wolf it replaces their Bolt Pistol, and the T-hammer is the one special per squad. The above is either what I got modeled already or have the bits to make. Mainly wanted to see what I could throw together and set a goal since I really love the new Twolves and my own Twolves conversion.

Left the Hunters in there for objectives since we play random battle type at the FLGS.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Not to say that I don't intend to add more regular cav to it. I just wanted some ideas on how to go, either another TWC FA choice or perhaps a HQ on a TWC.

How does this feel for a random 1k team up with random partners? (usually a Tau player)

I actually ran a terrifying 1000pt friendly oriented list for a small 'tournament' me and a few friends had, and I ended up tabling half my opponents by turn 3.....

I guess I just got lucky (winning initiative in most of my games), and ended up assaulting most players on turn one with the Lord (by himself), the Cav. and the Wolves themselves. One grey hunters sat on my obj. with the Priest, while the other squad charged up to cap another while the wolves contested the opponent's controlled objectives. Worked quite well actually!

HQ Wolf Lord 250pts

Fox-> That list does look like alot of fun. Sadly I don't have any little wolves yet. Got 3 Twolves on sprues, 3 conversions (1 with SS/TH, 2 w/ SS&CCW) and two with just the rider legs attached.

Proxies, my good friend. See if your friends don't mind; most will not as long as they understand what is what

True, Have to get enough bases together at minimum I play on Fridays a the Atlanta GW store so I try to limit my proxies as best possible. Plus I just lose track sometimes. haha . I might borrow your list for next friday.

I did put a vassal list of Canis, two full 15 wolf troops and Twolf cav together to see how crazy you could get.

I have no idea what that squad consists of, try to be clear as to what you have in the list. There is no need to price each model just list the important wargear. If you make it easier for people to read it make it easier to give advice.
eg:
5x TWC
#1 th/ss
#2 ss/bp etc etc.

An iron priest without cyber wolves is kinda a waste of points. Yes he has a 2+ but the amount of plasma, lazcannons and melta weapons out there means he is doomed with his 1 wound. The cyber wolves are there to make the squad last longer in cc and when it comes to wound allocation. There is no IC there so you can stick all the MC attacks as possible on them.

It's not the size of the blade, it's how you use it.

Lit-> Yeah I just noticed I'd not done a good job with that.

Yeah it was 5 TWolves, 1 w/ TH/SS 1 w/Plas pistol and two with meltas. Wanted to spread them out since everyone tries to pop the three squad I already have.

Also, if you do run a Canis list: keep the wolf squads at 10 max. They don't need as many models because they can use his leadership and re-roll failed tests (I believe? Might wanna check). If you did this, you'd get another squad by removing 5 from each 15. Also, don't bother taking cyberwolves if you do that list as well. Other than that: sounds like good 'ol SW charging goodness >:3

Well I just scrounged up 14 termy sized bases and have 15 with scarabs on them for my Crons. So I can proxy the two wolf packs and the Iron Priests entourage, of three cyberwolves.

Okay How about this tweaking to your list Sly Fox. Took out the plasma guns on the troops and lowered the Fen wolfs to ten to get the cyberwolfs and Iron priest in. Still evened out to 1k on the money.

Looks great! Only thing I would change though, is give the Storm Shield to one of the BP:CCW Thunderwolves. This way, you can round robin wounds and increase the life of the squad. With the lack of vehicles in a cavalry list, almost all of your opponents AT fire will be at the Thunderwolves, so divying up each wound will increase their effectiveness under fire.

Happy hunting
