Hello all, hope this isnt a stupid question(only 3 games in so far). So I was using my BA predator to fire at some IG. The other player said both side sponsons cannot see a target due to their side mounting. To me this seems wrong as the picture of firing side sponsons from pg 59 show a tapering direction. By my measure, if the unit I am firing at is over about 8" away, than both sponsons can hit them since that is the minimum distance at which their arcs of fire can meet. Is this right?

You are correct, you should be able to see a target in front of you with both Sponsons (provided it is not tooo close).

If your opponent still disagrees an easy way to settle this is to grab a laser pointer and put it right in line with the sponson weapon mount is located. You should be able to light up the target as per your description.

yeah thats what I thought, measured out the angles and distances to be sure(math professors know their geometry). Thanks

As a mathematician I bet you did the whole thing in Radians too!

The IG player was (probably - we don't know the exact situation) wrong; as long as you can draw a line down the barrel of the weapon to the target, then you can see. If the sponson is glued in place, then you measure it as if it wasn't.

It's really that simple. If he's saying you don't have LOS, get him to come around to your side of the table and look at it. I have a feeling that he's probably in the mindset of IG vehicles, which do have a very limited arc for their sponsons and so wouldn't be able to do the same thing.

Just put your measuring tape on it's side so i is thin edge up and show it's line of fire hit's the models. If he still disagrees call over a ref. LOS is fairly straight forward in the rules.

It's not the size of the blade, it's how you use it.
