So, yesterday while I was playing a game, I literally lost almost 600 points in a 1750 point game in two lascannons in the beginning of the shooting phase. Here's what happenedi n summary.

Librarian perils on the shrouding
1 lascannon explodes stormraven, killing 4 terminators inside (SO MANY 1's!)
2nd lascannon wrecks second stormraven

Just wondering if people had other similar horror stories where they lost 1/3 of their army in 15 or so seconds. lol

I once lost 400 points in one vehicle explosion. My Wave Serpent explodes (from the shooting of two freaking Lootas that rolled 1 on the D3 by the way). All 5 of the Fire Dragons inside died. A Guardian squad nearby got hit by the explosion, 3 died. I failed morale, rerolled with Embolden, fail again. They run off the table. All of my 5 Pathfinders are hit. They take 4 2+ cover saves and proceed to fail 3.

All in one, damn, explosion. One troop choice gone and another decimated. It lost me the game.

Any turn my guard get charged by Blood Angels, say goodbye to two or three tanks and most vehicles...sigh.

Had my Ctan and Crpytek single handed made in one enemy movement phase look over 11 Bikers.

Well, the time I CAUSED the most was when my Deathstrike Missile Launcher fired its payload and nailed two BA Razorbacks loaded with guys, exploding them both, dealing damage to the crew, killing a few, but also the missile hit a squad of devastators and wiped em out, along with their stupid little priest.

As for taking the most casualties....massive horde of Space Wolves Blood Claws (25 or so total, over several squads) along with several TWC charged me destroying a chimera, my command squad, and a vet squad with a Lord Commissar.

Mines easy, I used a diversionary tactic of charging a 50 man squad of conscripts (4th edition) straight into a Tau gunline so I could set up a charge into his broadside suits sitting off in a corner with my rough riders. Well, he bought it (and didn't) and managed to wipe out almost the entire unit of conscripts along with the rough riders One of my biggest tactical blunders. To make things worse, he deep struck two TL fusion blaster crisis suits behind my basilisks. I lost that game.

32 hormagaunts in one round of shooting versus Tau.

Playing against old necrons (before the old codex, back when their rules were only in a white dwarf), I managed to down enough warriors in a single volley from my guardians to force a phase out. Wiped out the entire army with just ~100 points of models shooting.

Hm another one:

Had a 40 man blob with a priest and commissar shot to pieces by 5 dark reapers and maugen ra and shadowed off the board over the course of one game turn, (ran off at the start of my turn.)

Pretty cool, and stellar dice rolls to fail 2 ld checks with summary execution. derp.

A friend of mine lost 2000 points of a 3000 point Imperial Guard Army BEFORE turn 1.

Picture it: the dark days of 2nd Edition... when Strategy Cards were de rigeur, and usually caused more trouble than they were worth.

3000 points of infantry-heavy IG vs Eldar. Both armies are set up on the table. Eldar player drops the "Virus Outbreak" strategy card.

That sound you just heard was all of the Olde School 40K players shuddering as one.

The virus outbreak left the IG player with: 1 Russ, 1 Basilisk, 1 Commissar Sebastian motherfething Yarrick, 1 squad of Rough Riders, 1 Heavy Weapon Squad, 1 Command Squad.

That's roughly 1000 points of 3000 points, and the Eldar hadn't actually fired a shot, yet.

That wasn't even the craziest part of the game. The craziest part was the IG player went on to win anyway, despite being down 2000 points.

My friend lost his 10 man immortal squad with his overlord with a bunch of wargear and cryptek due to a DS mishap on the first turn. He lost his Ctan on the same turn.

My entire 1st wave vs warp quake...

Paked up and didn't bother wasting any more time with the smug d-bag who just sat there with a stupid grin going on about how it's well past time chaos got put in its proper place at the bottom of the trash bin.

I don't play vs GK's anymore, not much point when you're Daemons.

Lost 759 points of 1500 in one assault when Commander O'Shovah and his 7 Crisis suit retinue plus one shield drone was annihilated by about 18 Assault Termis w/SS &TH. I did manage to kill ONE termi...and yes, it was with the drone...

I was playing a fun game with a friend. I had an all deepstrike Tyranid list vs his gunline Space Wolves. It was going to be awesome. It was going to be epic.

First turn, he doesn't do much.
Second turn, I roll and get every unit (yay!)

My 2 spores of devilgaunts scattered off the table (which the spore rules don't save you from), mishapped, died. (my first hint that my game was not going to go well)
My Hive Tyrant scattered onto one of his Long Fang units, mishapped, destroyed (My face: O.o)
My unit of Shrikes I mis-estimated, scattered 10 inches straight at one of his Grey Hunter squads, ended up just over an inch away... which meant I couldn't place one of the models from the unit, which means mishap, and guess what I rolled.
The Zoanthrope pod scattered into difficult terrain, took a wound, the zoeys got out, count as deep striking into difficult terrain, took a wound, out of range for the Lance I opted to blast with both - one rolled snakeyes, died from Perils, and the blast scattered - guess where? (the other one actually hit with the blast, but all wounds were saved)

My Doom landed safely (amazingly) but I was pretty sure I couldn't win with 2 pods and a Doom as my only things on the board.

The worst run of luck I've *ever* had.

Entire army gone by first end of 1st turn. Okay so it was only 300pts of IG, and there was a preliminary bombardment involoved.... but still..... I didn't even get to move my man dollies around in that game.

A recent Apoc game at my GW. One of the staff allowed the Imperial side to use his personal, brand new, fully hand painted Reaver Titan. Of which, I being team Captain, got to control. On turn 3 it Nuked everything within 17" costing us nearl 100 Imperial Guardsmen, 12 dread noughts and 3 predators, 3 land speeders and the enemy losing 2 Oblits.


I was pissed to say the least.
