All of the above plus:

TFG
WAAC
Bizarre
Squat player still hanging on (great guy).
The Gamestore Kid (more model kills by 'accident' than enemy dice fire and 25 years of gaming combined have achieved)
The Whiner (But it says in this BL book that one marine can kill a million orks....)
The awesome guy who gets into the game's narrative ( So Archon yeddelthu charges the towering ork Warboss, pulling out his Huskblade and (rolls) swings wildly away with it like it was a whifflebat Your turn )

And many more.

The community can be great, or it can be hiding asshats, just like real life. Usually there's enough great guys to balance out the asshats, but it varies.

The Viletide: Daemons of Nurgle/Deathguard: 7400 pts

There are lots of weird, nerdy and nice guys in my gaming club Great environment to talk about anything really. I can spend an hour and a half playing a game and then sit at the painting table talking for two hours easily without getting bored.

A few others:

The Rules Lawyer - they'll beat you down with raw, untainted logic backed up with pages of snippets from every FAQ update every produced.

The Roleplayer - the guys who genuinely believe the Imperium is all there is in the Galaxy and be you'll be damned if you play a Xenos race "HA!, see your foul Genestealers burn under my promethium!".

The Shy Prodigy - the one who will give you the thumping of your life even if you're a pretty decent player but will offer nothing more than a shy smile and a quiet thanks before disappearing to a corner of the shop.

The Hoverer - the one that never plays a game for whatever reason (they smashed their army off the wall sometime, cant be bothered "wasting" time painting, or has about 500 points of every single army under the sun incomplete). These guys will hover over your shoulder commenting on every move you make or dont make, offering pearl like nuggets of advice that are rarely needed and certainly not wanted as you try and plan your next move.

The Hyper Nut - these kids live breath and literally gak 40k (after consuming a few too many pots of Devlan Mud). They'll engage you in conversation about any topic relating to 40k no matter how trivial it might seem and do so with an enthusiasm that defies all dosages of Ritalin.

Our FLGS is really uber-competitive, with multiple Adepticon & Aard Boys finalists and winners...

And every bloody one of them is great! Most of them have fantastically built and painted armies, and while they are very competitive and nearly always give me a pretty good spanking when we play, I've yet to meet a DB in one of the top players. They're also willing to give tactical advice (once the game is over of course). Granted, I'm usually playing them in tournaments... so I don't get to see them game casually.

We also have a zillion kids... which are, you know... kids. Same as I was and my kids are, so I can't complain. The kids have their own gaming nights though so they don't often mix into the highly competitive tournaments until they get older (which seems to work just fine). We have a couple of surly guys who just aren't much fun to play... but most of the crew is a real pleasure, and there are enough non-competitive gamers around for guys like me to play and just enjoy the game without stressing about getting my *ss kicked constantly.

my LGS has a bunch of fun loving guys who just like to mess around, say for instance, running a baneblade in a casual game "just because".

We have a rule lawyer but he's cool, he doesn't but in until someone ask's him a question.

We have one TFG that we kind of shunned out of existance, he rarely shows anymore. Everyone else is nice and will let you do what you want/have a good time.

Honestly, I've seen a mixed bag, but never encountered someone who wasn't at least forgiving of mistakes/errors while I was learning.
Honestly however, the Ritalin kids are the worst though...*shudder*

We have the mix of people also. I myself am the "new guy" who is getting better. I am there usually working on my IG army, lots of scratchbuilding and artistic. We also have the walking rulebooks, and a few who run different armies. Everyone is nice.

We have 4 people.. yup thats the intire lgs. Sad right. One talks. One only plays warmachine. I play both and the other guy plays only 40k. Great mix right. That guy made the observation that he hasn't played against any army except tau for the last 3 months. We need more friends.

We have about 60 - 100, (several clubs at one venue) and it's quite a mix.

1. Urban Professionals (Accountants etc)
2. Thrash metal/biker types
3. Down at the heal 30-somethings with a dead end job
4. Young students
5. Military guys (serving and ex)
6. The ubiquitous bad hygiene types none of us like
7. Strictly No Kids (under 18's)

We meet about 18:00 until 23:30 with a Bar, etc so there is alcohol, a fair bit of swearing and abusive banter. It's great fun and lots of buying and selling of bits, models, armies. I swear the same £10,000 has changed hands in our club over and over, as we all swap and sell armies.

I've found that most people who play 40k are decent, even the ultra-competitive tourney-or-die players... as long as you're playing casual games. Once you're in a tournament format, I swear to FSM that everyone turns into a rules lawyer, debates 1/16th of an inch and cries foul at everything. That's why casual games run so much faster than tournament games.

The kinds of people that are annoying or douchebaggy generally get run out fast enough, and I can't think of anyone that would give a newbie a hard time. We have a small enough playerbase as is without scaring newbies out the door, never to return.

Over the last 20 years, I've seen all of the above at various FLGSs, and I'd like to add one more to the list of possibles:

The Lifer: the person who's seen it all and remembers when sustained fire Was A Thing™ and we used d10s for certain situations.

LOL! That's me! My problem is that I've seen so many versions of the game running around in my head combined with not being able to play the current rule set as often as I'd like. As a result I keep thinking past rules of the game are in play when really it's been many years since they were "the" rules.

Hey living in 2nd Edition is no bad thing. It's that "Lifer" giveaway when one of the old boys say "So your Imperial Assassin does he have a Vortex grenade?"... "er no, that hasn't been an option for a while now"...."oh sorry, it's been a while".

Love those conversations, it reminds you that you are still new to the hobby even after 20 years.

A cave, deep in the Misty Mountains

I've got a few at my FLGS, most of the people there are WAAC players unfortunately. Few kids, apart from this one guy who's 14 or something, touches all your models with greasy hands without asking, and comments on how all your moves are bad even though he hasn't even finished painting his first army. Also mocks the losing player of any game.

There's the rules specialist who's actually a really nice guy, and then a couple dudes who just come in to paint.
