A list I have been playing and having some fun with and some success too.

HQ:

Commissar Yarrick
Chimera w/ multi laser, hull heavy flamer, dozer blade, extra armor

Lord Commissar w/ Carapace armor, plasma pistol, power fist
Chimera w/ multi laser, hull heavy flamer, dozer blade, extra armor

Ministorum Priest w/ Eviscerator

Ogryn squad 1: 5 Ogryns (w/ Yarrick)
Ogryn squad 2: 5 Ogyrns (w/ LC and priest)

Penal Legion Squad 1
Penal Legion Squad 2
Penal Legion Squad 3

Veterans 1: Melta gun x3, Shotguns x6
Chimera: Multi laser, Hull heavy flamer

Veterans 2: Melta gun x3, Shotguns x6
Chimera: Multi laser, hull heavy flamer

Armor Sentinel w/ autocannon
Armor Sentinel w. autocannon

LRBT w/ Lascannon x2

Demolisher w/ dozer blade x2

Exterminator w/ heavy bolter sponsons x2

I have played with a single PLS for a while, decided to up that number. I just like that they are a simple easy unit to take, and, can always have a useful ability. The fact that they are stubborn is great for objective games. The two commissars with the ogryns make for two brute squads. I just like them, had alot of fun surprising people with them. The two sentinels have tarpitted either large groups of troops or a blood talon furioso more than I can count, and therefore, I always run them. Plus, they usualy pop a rhino. The tanks are there for the heavy hitting. I run the dozer blades on the two Commissar/Ogryn chimeras to get them into a fight quicker and easier. Also, dozer blades on the demolishers helps them get into range.

The only sad part is the Orgryns can't reroll miss in close combat. Except for the Orgyns with Yarrick.

There are two groups of Ogryns:

Squad 1: with Yarrick in a Chimera

Squad 2: with a Lord Commissar and a Mnistorum Priests (w/ eviscerator).

The Priest gives them the re-roll to hit also, Just like Yarrick. The LC and Priest have a total of 7 attacks on the charge, all powerfists.

The list is pretty bad. Your trying to run too many themes.

The priest does NOT give ogryns a re-roll, unfortunately. He does give it to the attached commissar, however.

Orgyns can't benfit from the Priest, nor can ratlings. Say so in the Imperial Guard Codex, PG35, Rightious Fury rule.

Another note, the Commissars cannot take Chimeras as dedicated transports, though easily fixed by moving them to the Ogyrns. However, you don't want extra armour or dozer blades on them, you're just making them too expensive. If I am honest I wouldn't even go down the combat route with Guard, they are a shooting army so best stick to their strenghs.

Too many Russes in squadrons. You don't need 2 of each Russ firing at a single target. I would take single Demolishers or maybe Executioners as these suit your advancing Chimeras better.

Just a quick note for readers: not every post here is a request to make it competitive. He said he wanted to share it and it looks interesting to me! Glad youve had success with it.

There's a difference between competitive and taking things which make sense. Also, I am not sure why you're adding a 'quick note' for as the O.P never said he wanted to share anything. He just posted a list and said this is his tactics. When you post a list the point is to get feedback. Feedback has been given.

Seems like a slightly bloated list. Drop Yarrick down to a normal LC, lose the priest, drop the HS slots to single tanks and you're about 1,850. That seems a little safer game to play. 2,500 pts is serious squirrel stuff. Not sure how you'd deal with say 5 landraiders, multiple dreads etc.

Not sure what the penal legion do here. If they scout they need support, so scout sentinels, stormies etc. If plodding along with the other troops they are the only foot unit out there and will take all the low strength shooting on the board.
