Hi all

As we all already know GW didn't release Mycetic Spores

Anyone know alternatives? Are they good?

I've found

Dragon eggs from the toy aisle at your local department store do pretty well.

I'm a bit fan of the maxmini pod. Probably the best looking in terms of fitting in with the Tyranid aesthetic. The tentacles look a lot like scything talons, and the bone plates positively scream Tyranid.

There's also the chapterhouse vagina pod.

I'm not the biggest fan of things like plasma hatchers. I've seen some well made pods from them, but most of the time people prime them, wash them, call it a day and they still look like toys.

In addition to the ones shown (Maxmini seems a bit small though):

1.) Crusader Casting (left, contact Dakka users Treadheadz or Steelmage99 for it):

2.) Old Epicast Mycetic spore model (OOP, try ebay, see above pic, right)

3.) Mr. Dandy:

4.) Chapterhouse:

There are others by even smaller companies.

You still haven't shown me how a dreadnought or 10 Space Marines fit in the GW drop pod.

Scale means little. As long as it's sensibly sized - which the maxmini pod still is - then it doesn't matter until GW release an official model.
