This is some fluff for a new IG regiment I thought up called the Ursari 5th Grenadiers. Incorporated some storytelling so I can justify buying Cadian models for my army lol let me know what you guys think!


Ursus is a harsh world, where only the strong survive. It is a temperate planet with many types of terrain including large forests, barren wastelands and snowy tundra, and filled with many fearsome animals. The first settlers of this planet named it Ursus, meaning “bear” in the old tongue, after the great bear-like creatures they first encountered. These massive carnivores, called Ursids, are highly revered in the Ursari culture. The apex predators of this planet, they are immensely powerful, extremely hard to kill and will fight even when heavily outnumbered. They personify every ideal that the inhabitants of this planet aspires to – strength, fortitude and bravery. Indeed the soldiers of this world even imitate the brown colour of the Ursid's coat on their own armour. In whatever war zone these soldiers fight in, they will retain their brown armour, paying homage to the great bears of their home world. Their war gear is also very similar to that of Cadia. This is merely because the people of Ursus have an outstanding aptitude for war and recognise that the Cadians have a very efficient battledress, and so wish to imitate it.

The Ursari 5th Grenadiers are one of the most honoured regiments in the Imperium, having shown their toughness, skill and zeal in battle time and time again. The regiment has managed to survive countless years of fighting through the iron will and determination of it's men and the constant replenishment of it's ranks from reserve squads. The Grenadiers are so called for their ability to bring great amounts of fire power to the fight. They fill their ranks with the biggest and strongest guardsmen, much better to bring the larger, more destructive weapons to bear against the enemy.

Its a decent enough start. I like an army that brings overbearing firepower with it. Maybe flesh it out some more. Create some more detail on the planet. What weapons in particular do they like? Do they have any typical enemies?? Stuff like that.
Not sure they should be one of the most honoured regiments in the galaxy though, perhaps a well respected regiment from a particular sector

The whole "most honored regiments in the Imperium" is a tad mary-sue.

I like it, however I wouldt not mind getting some more information about their commanders, notebal campagins. What sort of tactics and if they have a nemesis of some sorts. Except for that I really think this is a good start
