So I've just been kinda listhammering different things out, and this idea seemed interesting.
Strengths:
- Multiple high priority targets (pretty much everything, really)
- Loads of anti-armor (including av 14)
- Lots of anti-infantry
Weaknesses:
- Low model count, especially for 2k points (29 models!)
- Not much shooting going on
- Zero scoring units. I can contest objectives and camp them, but that's about it
HQ:
Astorath the Grim
Elites:
Furioso Librarian (Might/Shield)
- Drop Pod
Furioso Dreadnought (Fist x2)
- Drop Pod
Furioso Dreadnought (Fist x2)

Troops:

Death Company Dreadnought (2x Talons, HFlamer)

Total: 1995/2000 points (fill it out with searchlights, I guess?)
Astorath would either deploy on an objective and camp it, or try to deep strike near the power weapon DC squad, then attach as soon as possible. The 5 pods landing on turn one would be directed into area/impassable terrain, so that I should be able to park out of LoS for turn one, and go for the charge turn 2 - failing that, land, disembark and pop smoke. If there's a lot of AV 14 on the table, the riflemen dreadnoughts would be sacrificial bombs, otherwise they camp objectives and pop transports with the autocannons.
Does this list seem even remotely competitive, or should I stick to just using it in fun games?

The TL Autocannon seems a waste, you may as well go with the Blood Fist. The 5 Power Weapons and Fists on the Death Company should be split. 2 Fists and 3 others on each. Maybe go for extra armour? If you're stunned you may still want to charge. Yeah your stuffed on objectives, but jeez that'll wreck most armies. Lots of Melta will ruin you though.

An army truly built to mash vehicles is going to rip this army apart, obviously. However, the sheer shock-and-awe of having a dozen or so Dreadnoughts piling out of the sky is going to really scare an opponent who lacks enough AT firepower. You're going to have some really hard losses, but some truly inspiring victories.
IMO, I don't see how this is possibly competetive, merely because of the complete absence of scoring. You're going to rule annihilation, which is of course only 1/3 of the time. Also, you're going to need a bit more shooting. An army with fast AT (Dark Eldar, Tau) is going to really rain on your parade. Maybe you want to include some first-wave shooting Dreads, or maybe improve the Librarians' shooting?

The TL Autocannon on the rifleman dreadnoughts is for popping transports. If there's a lot of AV 14 on the board (say I'm playing another BA army that likes to load up on the land raider transports), I'll drop them inside their multimelta range and pop those. Otherwise, I'll leave them back taking shots at lighter armor with the autos.
With the rest of the dreads, if I'm not in assault by turn 2, then I'm pretty well hosed. I'll be relying on smoke launchers (and LOS) to weather the hail of first turn AT fire, but yeah - the lack of scoring units is a problem. Question: if I'm contesting every objective, wouldn't winning on kill points be possible, even without scoring units?
I could throw bolters on the DC marines for a bit more shooting, or drop a dreadnought for something else - possibly a (cheap) unit of sternguard in their own pod.
The lack of extra armor is a concern, but they should fare relatively well without it, on the assumption that av 12/13 is pretty tough to beat in CC.
