So i play black Templar, but with the new black Templar codex (hopefully) coming soon, i wanted to make my own BT successor chapter with the potential names being

1.The black order ( painted black with gold weapons and helmets for elites, symbol as a half gold half red shield)

2. Relic Knights ( white with red crosses, golden grail as symbol)

3. The white order (same as black order but painted white)

4. Knight Brethren

5. Angels of order

I would go with "Knights Templar" or "Knights Angelic"

Other than that not 2 or 3, because white sucks to paint.

I would go with Knights Templar

Since it would be obvious what faction it was from and because historically it is also an accurate name.

Option 3 sounds nice. It would look kinda like a Crusader riding down and striking down the Emperor's foes. Glorious!

Sorry to say, but those names aren't very good. They sound like they came from some random chapter name generator.

Really? You include the Crimson Fists but not the Ultramanrines?

I have to agree with Brother SRM. Ozomoto, all those you mentioned are aesthetically pleasing names. Yours are not.

Besides, Templars don't have successors. Make them a IF successor, have them have the cool templar iconography and tabbards and gak and call them Something Knights (like an actual IF successor, the Iron Knights), but please don't rape the fluff. Thank you for your cooperation.

The Obsidian Templars? Sounds suitably ominous.

I'd suggest the Obsidian Order, but that requires you don't mind Star Trek fans jumping on you every now and then.

Ultramarines are another example

Red Templar, white Templar, they have successor chapters. Sorry but i find crimson fists, ultramarines, and Minotaur's etc really cheesy and not aesthetically pleasing. Something like relics knights is cheesy, but in a good way, and i find very aesthetically pleasing. Sorry if i dont want to have an army identical to every other BT player out there (in both looks and structure of the army).

To everyone: I just wanted opinions on which name people think is the best, saying all my names suck not giving any advise is just hating and kinda makes you a tool. You could say something like your names are not aesthetically pleasing, here is one that is, "something" templar etc.

I wasn't meaning to insult you or make you feel bad. Sorry if my wording seemed like I was - I was probably in a kinda bad mood.

Still, I think BT successor doesn't make sense, although I understand perfectly well that you want the style of BT but not black/white - I had the same problem and just went with a DIY that incorporates most of the iconography, too. Of your names, I think Relic Knights sounds best, although something about it still bothers me. I'm not really in a creative mood atm, but I'll try to think of an alternative tomorrow.

Also, the wikia seems to have a lot of things mixed up and without sources. Lexicanum is better.

White Templars

Red Templars

They are not BT successors, the wikia is simply wrong. I'll find you a reference when I am less tired. But the Red Templars are in C:SM, for example.

Fair enough, but this quote is taken right out of the codex, ``The practice of having an emperor`s champion has spread to other chapters, but is enshrined most strongly within the dogma of the black Templar `s``. While it might not be a successor chapter, the rituals and practice of the black Templar are seen in other chapters. That and the mandatory gene seed there required to give to the Adeptus Mechanicus makes it very reasonable (in my opinion), that a chapter created for a specific purpose could be built from the structure of the black Templar `s rather then a traditional marine army.

There could easily be IF successors that do have a very knightish theme, too - the iron knights for example certainly are one. But the chapter organisation of the BT is unique.

That doesn't have to stop you to create a chapter that is basically a codex chapter with a knight theme, but in practice is split up into crusades all the time. A crusade would then probably consist of one to three of the chapter's companies with elements from first and tenth, and be led by the most senior captain. Maybe they, too, have slightly more than 1k marines due to all the crusading and never being in a single spot together, but certainly not as many as the BT.

But in short: you do not need them to be BT successors in direct line in order for them to be similar to the BT in style and behaviour. And as a bonus you'd avoid having the same argument with other gamers all the time.

I think the earlier point being made was that there are NO Black Templar successors.

However, another Sons of Dorn chapter wanting to pattern themselves after the Black Templars would make more sense in my book than a BT successor. At the end of the day, it's your army, so paint as desired and create your own fluff. Full points for creativity, either way.

Uhhh...
Yeah probably not...
The Imperium doesn't much like a 6,000 strong Chapter going around doing what they feel like. It's unlikely they'd allow them to do the whole new chapter thing...
Though a chapter could easily style itself after them like you said...

How about "Witch Hunters"? Since they are no more, name them after what they were ment for.
I play Sister's, so being called the "SOB" player gets a little old.

Or how about "Malleus Maleficarum", (Latin for "Hammer of the Witches")?

Good luck.
