Im thinking about making a Drednaught Drop army.

Im thinking about either doing Salamanders with Vulkan, or Blood Angels with furious's and fnp.

Can anyone who has experience running these lists give me some pointers? What does a good list look like? Is it competitive? Is TL Meltas or FNP Better?

Thanks and please post some good ideas.

A guy at my flgs runs a BA army that is all dreadnaughts

He was two infantry squads decked out with close combat weapons and meltas and mephiston in drop pods along with 12 dreadnaughts

He has:

2 dreads with two twin linked autocannons
1 librarian dread
3 furioso with talons
rest are dreads with twinautocannons and ccw and heavy flamer

he looses most games - in the current meta simply too much melta, lance weapons, missiles, lascannons, TH/SS, power fists, rending, melta bombs, rail guns, marker drones - the list goes on

6th & 7th edition: taking a break - power creeep (lethality of game) became too hot to handle

Not to mention his list is not legal at all.

OP Either way works. the BA can get 3 elite dreads that will shew up most things they come into contact with. they can also have 3 heavy dreads and 5 troop dreads. However to get 5 troop dreads they need to have 25 death company, and that is way overkill, as most people do not run DC anymore.

On average, BA is probably better if you intend to run lots of Dreads. It won't be 12(!), but you can pick from 3 FoC slots. Furioso Librarians make good alrounders, including some mean, short-range Tank-busting with Bloodlance. Regular Furioso also wreck most stuff, infantry or Tanks. Regular Dreads for more long-range support.

For a more infantry-heavy Pod Army, regular Space Marines have the advantage of 12-man-pods, allowing you full, combat-squad-able units + characters, which is nice. Vulkan certainly is a strong choice for that kind of army.

For the ultimate cheese-fest, use Space Wolves, dropping relentless, split-fire Long Fangs and using counter-attack instead of actually needing to think about how to place your Pods with some strategic foresight. They also don't suffer other armies "trade-offs" and balancing limitations in choosing special weapons for their units, and can just loot the candy-box with impunity when making their list, using cheaper base-cost per Marine(-but-better) too. Oh, and more HQ too, to make sure you don't run out of JoTWW-spam.
