Yeah, yeah, when I first heard they were making a movie out of this lame-ass TV show, I was sooo not interested. Then I saw the trailers and decided I would give it a chance. It's so awesome! There are lots of not-so-subtle references to just the sort of things that could have made it another horrible adaptation like Starsky and Hutch. (Seriously, don't see that movie, it's worse than terrible.) See below for a more in-depth, but also really NSFW critique.

Im curious on this flick as well. And Ill agree on Starsky and Hutch, uhg that was a bad movie. The only good thing I took form that steamer, was the "DO IT" thing Stiller did towards the end. It was just the right amount of funny meets odd

Starsky and Hutch the movie was as lame if not lamer than the TV series it took the name from.
Jump street will be just like the other 80s TV cop-show turned movie - Miami vice. Devoid of the spirit that made it what it was.
In MV's case, it wasn't the fashions (ugh!) it was the music. When the movie didn't have the Jan Hammer soundtrack, I knew it was going to suck harder than a hoover.

The only thing I liked about the S&H movie was Snoop Dog as 'Huggy Bear'.
I watched 21JS when it was on the air, it wasn't that great then and it won't be great now. It just shows how desperate hollywood is for new movie ideas =o\

It's actually not a re-creation of the original series into a movie, it's more of a satire of that whole thing, plus it takes a lot of jabs at buddy cop movies along the way. It's the best cop comedy since "The Other Guys".

I saw this last night. It was actually quite funny, and shares very little in common with the TV show other than the general premise. It's very tongue in cheek.

I saw it over the weekend with my wife and we laughed pretty good. Overall it was quite entertaining and like was said earlier very tongue in cheek. It doesn't even pretend to take itself seriously which is great.

My wife and I, and most of theater laughed the entire time.
It's crude, but that's fine.
It's like a lot of my real life conversations with friends, and I can only imagine that's how I'd be if I was a cop.
Also, the cameo was literally, out of nowhere!
Best comedy I have seen in a while. Hands down.

It amazes me that John Carter got trashed by the citics, and 21 Jump Street got rave reviews.
I guess that's just the state of 'entertainment' here in America.

I went into the movie expecting pure, unadultered crap. Will Ferrel levels. Spent the movie laughing my ass off. The amount of jokes they made about reboots, the tongue in cheek humor all made it funny. If they'd taken it seriously it would have sucked. But they took it just seriously enough (for a comedy) that it was better than most of the comedies I've seen in a long while.

I gotta say, I was dubious of this movie being any good (it looked like just another dumb comedy) but I'm looking forward to seeing it now. Sounds like they put a lot of thought into making it funny without forcing it.

Lots of sex references, but no naughty bits shown. Some violence (with blood), but not too OTT. Lots of swearing. Some drug use, but limited to pot, alcohol and a fictional drug.
I think you gotta make that call for yourself. When it comes to kids, no 2 parents can agree on exactly what's appropriate at a given age.

The thing that made the S&H movie suck was the Stiller/Wilson combo. That it was a remake of a crap TV series didn't help its cause (The car was the only good thing about it, and the car was pretty crap too).
The only way they could have made it less funny would have been the additional casting of Will Ferrell AND Steve Carell.
