I have recently gotten my hands on a lot of nids cheap and I want to make a Monster and Swarm list.

Here is the list of model

Hive tyrant with Hvc and st.

2tyrant guard

4zoanthropes

2venomthropes

90temagaunts (40 fleshborers, 30spinefists, 20devourers)

3warriors (a vc and 2devourers)

3carnifexes (Don't know the loadout yet)


I plan on expanding this list with a battleforce, one tervigon and even more hormagaunts (love the little buggers^^). after that I will aim for another tervigon and 2tyrannofexes (and probably EVEN MORE hormagaunts)



So Dakka what list can you bild out of this?

Right, not sure what points your looking at, but i'm going to assume its 1500+.

If you want a MC/Swarm list, well thats what Nids do best (kind of).
Definatly get your hands on a Tervigon, or three, you could always convert a Fex or two, because to be honest they aren't all that great and unless your really keen on a Fex build, its probably best to leave them at home. I'm not sure the battleforce is necessarily your best bet, you don't need any more Termagants, warriors aren't great and you may or may not need Stealers and Hormagaunts, personally I think Stealers are one of the best units in the whole of 40k, especially when taking a unit of 14-20 buffed by Tervigon's FNP.

Knowing what points level your at would actually be pretty useful now, but basically for a swarm list with MCs, and you liking hormagaunts so much, i'd say you could go for Hive Tyrant, a couple of Tervigons, (two squads of 10 bare termagants to make them troop) two large squad (20ish+) of hormagants, preferably Hive Guard (6) but Zooanthropes (not sure how many) can work well. Then you can fill out with Gargoyles, Trygon or two, or a Tfex or two if you want to go that way.

Only buy the battleforce if you want hormogaunts and warriors in your list, otherwise don't bother and just get the units you want.

If you go 2-3 tervigons then you will need a good 90 termagants. As long as they are all indentically armed then having slightly different models will not be a problem. You won't want to pay for spine fists, that's for sure.

Carnifexes you probably would be better running with TL devourers unless you plan on dropping them in spores. Then, rather than buying tyrannofexes you can spend the money on hive guard as elites.

Basic List

HQ Tervigon
Elite 3 * 2 hive guard
Troop 2 tervigons
Troop 2 termagants (10)

That's just shy of 1,000 points. Rest you can choose according to style of play ...

Do you know what points level your going to be playing most frequently, and also you plan on doing well in tournaments with Nids?

I might join a 2ktourney and I want to win with my list. I will simply build up my points over time
