I was looking at Prince Yriel the other day, and I noticed, that the Spear of Twilight is "a singing spear that ignores armour saves." Now I'm curious, since the Singing SPear has a ranged profile, when used as a ranged weapon, does the Spear of Twilight ignore armour saves, or is it just in close combat?

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Yes it does - same as DoC Flamers have a ranged weapon that ignores armour saves. You dont HAVE to have an AP value to ignore a particular armour save

The reason I asked is because a Singing Spear when used at range is AP4 (I think). Thanks for the answer though.

It's AP6, not 4, when thrown.
Yriel's Spear of Twilight is still, technically, AP6 when thrown, but it also ignores armor saves.

If it was thrown against a vehicle would it still be AP6 or would it count as AP1?

Based on the wording of the rule, and what has been posted; it is an AP 6 weapon, however against models with armour saves, it ignores armour.

No, because nothing says it is. "Ignores armour saves" has no basis on AP

As it is, my question has been answered, and I don't think this thread needs to be open any longer. If a Mod could lock it I would appreciate it, however if it is felt that it should be left open, then whatever.
