Hello! I'm making a wraithbone-looking design for my Eldar army bases, and I'm at a bit of a loss for a certain aspect of it; specifically, attaching finecast to it. To start, I am using an idea very similar to this:

Now, I love the look of this, and so far on units like my Dire Avengers and my Guardians, it looks spectacular. I've run into one little problem though; the tab on the bottom of finecast models. There is no easy way of cutting a perfectly rectangular hole into the plastic card used to make these bases. My first thought was to simply cut off the tab and glue them like normal models. With models such as the Warp Spiders and the Farseer, this would work absolutely fine, but other models such as the Banshees or the Harlequins are attached to the tab by a single foot, or a couple toes, or quite literally a piece of ribbon. I don't think snipping the tab and super-gluing the tip-toes of a model to plasticard would work well at all, but I guess I'm not sure about this, so if I'm wrong by all means tell me since it'd make my job a lot easier! Anyway, anyone have a suggestion for how I can do this easily?

Oh. Right. That's a really good idea haha, can't believe I hadn't thought of that. That makes harlequins very easy then, but the Banshees are still standing on their tiptoes, which could cause difficulty. Ah well, I suppose I can give it a shot unless I find something a little easier.

EDIT: With careful angling, I managed to get the Banshees pinned as well. Thanks!

I had a metal harlequin (which is attached to its tab solely by the ribbon off his coat) snap off. I ended up pinning it back together, so I'd imagine pinning finecast would be a crapload easier.

Pinning into a foot (ankle end, you can go up into the shin area) is how my one footed models are anchored to their resin bases.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

That is not dead which can eternal lie ...

... and yet, with strange aeons, even death may die.
