You think you'll earn automatic ire? Mine's Guilliman, people just love to hate on the guy who saved the whole show, while running his side show, while trashing the original traitor legion, while being more literate than all but Magnus.

Magnus for the same reason as the OP, but also because of the tragedy of his story. He was desperate to warn the Emperor. So desperate infact that he was willing to risk damning himself (although he thought he stood a good chance avoiding the negative effects of sorcery) to give the Emperor the warning that Magnus hoped would save his life. How was he re-payed by the moron? He was rebuked and ignored for the most part. Magnus was betrayed on a level equal to the Emperor, and for that, and the sacrifices he made to save his sons, even after losing all hope and being abandoned by his father, I must say I admire Magnus above all other primarchs. 2nd Sanguinius, 3rd Leman Russ (because I truly like the nordic lore etc...)

Sanguinius, because even though he knew Horus would kill him, he still went and wrecked his day. Not to mention that even severely wounded he was a match for Horus at his best(worst?). If not for Sanguinius, the Emperor would've never been able to kill Horus, and Chaos would be reigning the imperium of man.

Gotta go with Mortarian - he is one tough dude, loads of character and didnt really give a stuff about chaos in the begging

HE just wanted payback against the emperor for not giving him the chance to kill his adopted father or meet his fate doing so

He is all guts

I have a soft spot in my heart for Ferrus Manus. I know he is the first Primarch to die in the Horus Heresy but I still like him and his personality. I like his ability to forge incredible weapons and his chapter's emphasis on the mechanical. Plus he blew up the hammer he gave Fulgrim just by touching it.

Konrad Curze. I liked how he was always the outcast and truly believed that his horrible actions where for the betterment of the Imperium, leading to the Emperor to chastise him for doing the very same things that he himself did when forging his empire.

On top of that, I love the Night Lords, because they're not quite Chaos, but not quite NOT Chaos lol. They care about themselves and terrorizing the Imperium instead of getting ahead in the eyes of the Chaos Gods.

I have to vote for Magnus, his story regarding the start of the heresy, and their subsequent fall to chaos is truely a work of art and tragedy.
Loyalist-wise, my vote goes to Sanguinius, he really stands out in all the fluff as a fierce warrior who cared about his men, that and the angel wings are just badass.

Favorites (in descending order)
1) Magnus the Red
- he was the most intelligent of the Primarchs
- he was just as charismatic as Horus and his father, the Emperor
- out of all the Primarchs he inherited the most of his father's godlike psychic might
- apparently he was also very respectful of both Astartes and non-Astartes alike

2) Sanguinius
- what's there not to like?
- Horus may be Warmaster, but Sanguinius was the heir to the Imperial Throne - it's pretty much implied the Emperor wanted Sanguinius to remain in the Imperial Palace to become the new Emperor after His return from the Vengeful Spirit (since He already knew that upon His return, He'd only be good for keeping the Golden Throne under control, focusing the Astronomican, and soul-binding Astropaths)

3) Lion El'Jonson
- Knight
- he didn't care whether or not future generations questioned his loyalty in light of his failure to return to Terra during the Siege
- a noble and merciless warrior
4) Roboutte Guilliman
- not as ambitious or as talented a tactician/strategist as Horus, or as likable as Sanguinius, but he was probably the best leader/organizer/politician among the Primarchs
- say what you want, but this guy pulled the Imperium back together after the Horus Heresy - with the Emperor comatose, the Warmaster-turned-traitor dead, and the heir to the throne also dead, that's a lot of pressure

5) Vulkan
- down-to-earth guy
- good with his hands, none of the other Primarchs held ordinary Humans in such high regard as he did, a trait inherited by his genetic sons
- apart from Ferrus Manus, he was probably the strongest of the Primarchs

Hated (only one)
Leman Russ
- Russ was a rabid and ignorant dog...even Lorgar and Angron were better than him...Lion should have finished the off when he had the chance...I'm hoping Magnus has him rotting in a cell at the base of the Obsidian Tower on the Planet of the Sorcerers.

I should have left him there. He had served his purpose. He owed me nothing - yet he gave himself to me willingly. Why? I know not. He is nothing more than a pathetic human. An inferior race. A mon-keigh. But still I broke off my wings so that I might carry him easier. I took him from that place, into the snowstorm where our tracks will not be found. He is heavy. And he is dying. And he is slowing me down. But I will save him. Why? I know not. He is still warm. I can feel his blood ebbing across me. For every beat of his heart, another, slight spill of heat. The heat blows away on the winter wind. His blood is still warm. But fading. And I have spilled scarlet myself. The snow laps greedily at our footsteps and our lifeblood, covering them without a trace as we fade away.

I think Magnus. Being the "tragic" Heretic and all, he really brings a great story to the whole thing IMO.

Guilliman is a close second. He's really a catalyst of the setting as it is now.

I am less fond of Primarchs who just seem to be more exaggerated versions of their chapter-traits, like Angron or Khan. Could've done something more interesting with those I believe.

Magnus; he didn't go to chaos because he was tempted or wanted power but because he was betrayed by the imperium and that was the only choice available to him.

I hate Russ because of what he did to the Thousand Sons, plus the space wolves just suck any way, arrogant jerks.

If either of these Primarchs had their respective legions given special rules or Codexes I'd buy all the models...ALL the models.

Alpharius is a tactical genius and even now the Imperium is going "Not sure if dead.."

Traitor and Top other wise:
Magnus
hes wise and a psyker who could challenge the emperor himself (magnus actually crushed a titan with his abilities) plus he and his legion throughout everything although being played by tzeentch kept it together (mostly) until the wolves arrived and even then took out alot of them and custodes and hey who doesn't like a bit of "magic"

Loyal
Gonna break the mold here and say

Corax
i don't believe he deserves half the Infamy he gets just because of his "last words" and hes pretty handy in battle if i recall correctly he almost tookout Lorgar while in the middle of the Istavaan massacre and then held of Night haunter for a fair while. Hes also pretty logical he managed to get to the end of the Primarch- project with little help and despite having a little bit of breakdown... i think he generally needs a fluff update from the old "never more" and more to the pre heresy Corax
(sorry if any information is incorrect at this point just started Deliverance lost)

Alpharius Omegon, They realized what needed to be done to save the galaxy knowing that they would be hated and persecuted by those they were trying to save. Sometimes to save the whole, you have to save only a few, they understood that well.

Also, props to strategic and tactical genius

So tough, but I would have to say.
1. Lion, had a friendly rivalry with Russ, had to kill Luthor, and was the Primarch of the 1st Legion.
2. Corax, his legion was less of a blunt force than most of the others, relying on covert ops and whatnot.
3. Alpharius/Omegon, similar reasons to with Corax except when he was killed (possibly) by Guilleman, his forces went on to defeat the Ultramarines in that battle.
4. Fulgrim, killed two other Primarchs (although TBF he was a daemon primarch controlled by a greater daemon when he killed Guilleman), and was obsessed with perfection.

I just do not like Guilleman, sure he helped to hold the Imperium together, but his insistence upon the adoption of the Codex astartes nearly started another civil war and greatly limited the potential size of the loyalist Legions/Chapters.

Corax FTW. I know, I know. "Never more..." Way to blatently rip off Poes epic poem. Other than that its all about covert tactics (which, I might add, differ strongly from all the other primarchs at the time), individual planning, breaking out of being a slave, etc. The guy handled war like a BOSS with a jump pack, pale skin and a bad disposition. Then screwing up huge by trying to regrow his chapter way too fast. The guys got charecter.
