Now I am at a loss about which upgrades to take.

Feel free to change everything except my precious Grenadiers, as they're the only model I currently and my first ones, therefore they're going to be part of my force.

Edit: If there's noone who wants to play with FW rules, I could take 5 extra engies count them as veterans, pack e'm into a chimera, the Grenadiers will be Stormies. And the drill... well :(

Hmmm... nice selection but I'm not sure how hard they'd hit.

I myself have been looking over the Death Korps options and trying to come up with a viable 500point list to play my friends Necrons for some future games we have planned. What I soon found is the Grenadiers are too expensive for the list. I have gone down the route of Engineers as troop choices with a Hades drill and Death Riders for HQ and Fast attack. Its hard to work out a list at 500points, I think 750 is a more appropriate size...

Thanks, in the meanwhile, I'll thinker something for a 750 pts list.

Edit: I am thinking at least an extra squad of guardsmen and one heavy weapon squad.

That leaves me with 205 pts to spend, thinking about an Earthshaker or two, or some of the Krieg unique artillery, maybe beefing up the Engineer/Grenadiers squad? So many choice, so little point.

Had a look at a few of my planned lists as I'm planning to have a few small games with my friends new Necron army.... for 500 points I came up with:

HQ:
Death Rider Command Squad

Troops:
10x Engineers Mole Launcher and Gas Grenades
10x Engineers Demo Charge
1x Hades Drill

Total: 490

I found it alot harder thinking up a 750 point list... I came up with 685 or around 835....

Did not think about going full Engineer list, mind reporting in how well it did once you've played a few games?

I might snatch it, and add what I already have.

No worries Bob... I just though for a small game I'd get more for the points going with engineers.... I would have added another Drill but I only have one! Went with the Death Riders as HQ cause those lances can cause a nice amount of damage and move around faster than foot sloggers.... Will let you know how it goes, should be within the next 2 weeks. If he manages to get some more of his models done then we will go bigger and I will let you know what else I use.

Oh and for the next size up I'd be adding a Squad of 10x Death Riders but that only gets me to 685...

An extra drill would fit well, with that 685 list, if you can afford it.
