Hey all,
I've been painting some space wolves recently and got the colour of there armour nailed down (codex grey)
I'm just wondering what people think a good spot colour would be to improve the look of the minis, I'm not 100% sure what colour to paint the bolters, shoulder pads and the aquilla symbols. Anyone got any suggestions?
I've attached some pics of how they currently look.
Cheers for looking

Why not try for a gold/platinum color for the detailing on the bolters and armor?
It would be a nice, bright spot color which would offset the overall "dark" tone you've got going on(which I absolutely love, I might add!).

Thank you I quite like the dark look myself.
Yea I'm thinking of a gold colour, I tried using vallejo Red Gold but its abit to rich a gold for my likeing, might try a mix of old gold and white gold and see how that turns out.
I do like the sound of using platinum for the the detailing instead of the gold.
Yea I know what you mean about a bright spot colour killing the nice dark tone i've got going, trying to paint the wolf guard markings a nice dark yellow so its not very bright

To get a good "platinum" look going, you can do a mixture of (I tend towards using GW's metallics personally, so not too familiar with Vallejo's metallic range) 90 % Mithril Silver/ 10% Shining Gold.
You can substitute the Shining Gold for Burnished Gold and get a brighter look going too.

Dude the platinum idea turned out fantastic.
Left is gold, ight is the platinum colour. Need to try and get a better photo to show the difference
Ended up mixing a 9:1 mix of white gold with old gold (paints of alcholic awesome).Quite like how it turned out, but I may still buy the p3 platinum since it'll give me some consistancy.
Now to figure out how to do a muted dark yellow colour

I see some Iyanden Darksun behind the models, try that!
It's a nice, muted color when applied.
I'm happy the idea worked for you though.

Cheers guys
Going to place an order and pick up some p3 paints, anyone got any recommendations for reds and yellows? Are they much better than citadel reds and yellows?
