Hello i have decided to use a cathay army (counts as empire)
but i new to fantasy have no idea hat the good leaders of an empire army are, could you tell me the pro's and con's of the unnamed lords and some popular/mainstream kits that go with ehm, i have a proxy option for each of them.

The General will be sculpted like an epic dynasty warrior style guan yu type leader,
The arch-lector on the war-altar will be sculpted like a startegist on aplatform with a gong, helpers and a big guy with the weapon of choice.
For The Templar see the general.
The Wizard lord i will use some epic taoist looking monk type.
Could you please provide feedback on my ideas?

Really the only two good ones are Arch Lector and Wizard Lord and you do not want a Lizard Lord as your general

That barely helps!

Well I am just telling you the ones that pop out from a competitive mindset.

Generals give you access to a magic banner but with a stateline the same as a captain they are not even close to worth their points

Templar Masters.... Well let us just say they make Generals look viable

Arch Lector is the greatest bargin in a book of bargins. +2 DD, Pope Mobile and more bound spell goodness than you can shake a stick at.

Wizard Lords are cheap and know every lore. Add in the insanely good Arcane items in the Empire book and he is a winning ticket!

That better?

Well I love the idea for the General and that is the idea I used for my arch lector.

If you are stumped for model ideas check out Reaper. They have a great line of Old Asian type minis

Actually the General has an extra wound and Ld 9. The wound is nice but not that big of a deal, really the point of the General is that he's the cheapest way to get to Leadership 9 in the Empire book.

He's honestly not that bad, and is generally taken by people that don't want to explain to anyone why one of the two Arch Lectors of the Empire is showing up to fight in what looks to be a fairly minor border skirmish.

Arch Lector is the greatest bargin in a book of bargins. +2 DD, Pope Mobile and more bound spell goodness than you can shake a stick at.

And this really is the core of the matter. The Arch Lector gets a whole lot of special rules niceness over the Empire General, for only a few extra points.

The only reason not to take one is if you're in a friendly game, or a tournament with comp.

“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”

Adam Smith, who must have been some kind of leftie or something.

I would hold off until the new book next month. Arch Lectors and Warrior Priests are getting major rules overhauls, and coming out with plastic kits on foot and the War Altar.
