ORKS GET IN 'ERE. WE'S GOT LOOTIN' TA DO!

I'm considering after finishing my Harad dabbing back into 40k with Orks. And wanted pointers for a nice 1000 point Ork List that I could expand upon in the future.

Definately would made them centered around a Blood Axe warband. I'm thinking Green Tide or something very armor 'eavy. I definitely don't want to mech out, I played Space Marines way too damn much and with my Wolves goin' missing after the move I have little to no interest in them.

Also, post what Ork clan you play and the list you currently run!

I've sold so many armies. :(

Green tide is probably the stronger option, backed up with maybe a couple battle wagons and a big mek or two with KFF to cover the advance. Though I don't really play Orks all that much, the solution to most things seems to be to throw more boyz at it until it's gone.

Green tide is cheap if you get the AoBR ladz, effective and damn near impossible to beat at less than 1k points; the other guy simply can't put enough rounds down range to stop you!

If you were lookign for soemthing a bit more armoured you could go mekbash/Kan wall.

All walkers (mekbash) is surprisingly effective, for me, and Kan wall combines the numbers from Green Tide with lots of AV value units (albeit low AV).

If you had the money Battlewagon Bash is fun, but it doesn't come all that cheap.

I'd recommend Green Tide, probably, as Orks don't really get very heavily armoured units. Medium armour plus KFF is pretty durable, but our only AV above 12 is the tiny front grille of the Battlewagon, and sideshots are way too easy to get.

The Viletide: Daemons of Nurgle/Deathguard: 7400 pts
Disclples of the Dragon - Ad Mech - about 2000 pts
GSC - about 2000 Pts
Rhulic Mercs - um...many...
Circle Oroboros - 300 Pts or so

Blood Axes here too.

Green Tide is definitely effective. Battlewagons are really good to use. I have one that I used against an Eldar player. I kept it so that the front armor was the only side he could fire on. He couldn't bring it down. He did manage to roll some damage on it, but the Big Mek with the KFF inside negated it. Did a lot of damage with it. It took his Wraithlord to bring it down in close combat.

My recommendation; More boyz, and a Battlewagon or 2. Or 3.

or 5 or 8

I have a fondness for Big Meks and Walkers myself, but then i have a thing for mad scientists of all stripes.

DE Haemonculi lists are also a big fave of mine

Out of curiousity, how did you keep the itty bitty front end of the BW as being the only part of the BW the eldar could shoot? They have a tendency to be more mobile that most, and sideshots aren't that hard to get.

To say as a non-ork player advising in this thread.

Well, as an IG heavy armor player that I have almost exclusively had the pleasure of playing against green tide. And to this day, I have only lost to it once.

This comes from the fact that I have enough artillery and tanks to blow up the big armor penetrating units of the enemy Ork army before they get to me, then I use my Chimeras and Hyrdas to mop up the rest of da Boyz.

Manticores in my experience preform excellent against Green tide.

"The Imperium is nothing if not willing to go to any lengths necessary. So the Trekkies are zipping around at warp speed taking small chucks out of an nigh-on infinite amount of ships, with the Imperium being unable to strike back. feth it, says central command, and detonates every vortex warhead in the fleet, plunging the entire sector into the Warp. Enjoy tentacle-rape, Kirk, we know Sulu will." -Terminus

"This great fortress was a gift to the Blood Ravens from the legendary Imperial Fists. When asked about it Chapter Master Pugh was reported to say: "THEY TOOK WHAT!?""

The first and last time I fielded my Warlord Titan The Fury of The Stars I fought against a 20,000 point Green tide. It was GLORIOUS.

Obviously, what everyone is saying is right.
At 1k, you could just field boyz, nobz, and a Big Mek and be golden.
This is also THE foundation for whatever else you decide to do.
Since you don't want to go mech heavy, Green Tide is about your only option.
So, pick up 90 Ork Boyz, 5-6 Nobz w/ Klaws, maybe a couple dozen Grots, and if you want some diversity, 15 Lootas.
That, in my opinion is a great starter for 1k games with Orks (Non-Mech)

Well, i suppose we can't all be pure tactical geniuses like you.

Back to op, green tide is dead cheap with blackreach boyz, and one of the only competitive builds that doesn't need a single damn vehicle. Battlewagons are heaps of fun aswell, their what i use most of the time, but green tide is just as fun, and plenty strong enough to keep up with the best of lists.
