OK. I am trying to put a White Scars list together. I have poked around as to the best configuration and am still not sure how to fine tune this. While the concept of all bikes is appealing, I wanted to give myself at least a few options for holding / contesting objectives on upper levels of ruins (hence the scouts and tac squad). Obviously, mobility is the centerpiece. I love the idea of Khan's outflanking abiliity, but I suspect I am putting way too much hope on this grand tactic catching all of my opponents off guard. I suspect that it will just have me coming in piece meal and my opponent wiping me out in detail.

So, please any C&C is welcome along with tips on how to properly play bikes. I know bikes are a finesse army and that is something I am sorely lacking right now (finesse, not bikes):

HQ
Khan on bike
Command Squad w/ Bikes (Company Champion, 2 Storms Shields, 2 Melta Guns, 2 Power weapons)

ELITES
Techmarine on Bike

Assault Terminators x 5
Land Raider Redeemer w/MM

TROOPS
Bike Squad (w Attack Bike w/MM, 1 extra bike, 2 MGs)
Bike Squad (w Attack Bike w/MM, 1 extra bike, 2 MGs)
Bike Squad (w Attack Bike w/HB, 1 extra bike, 2 Plasma guns)

Tac Squad x 5 w/ Razorback LasPlas

Scouts x 5 (shotguns and combat blades)

FAST ATTACK
Land Speeder w/ MM & HF
Land Speeder w/ MM & HF
Land Speeder Storm

My biggest concern is the GIANT point sink in the command squad. I just don't know if its going to give me the same level of point return for what I am spending on it. Meltaguns are attached in the hope they can pop a transport and then dive into the juicy goodness inside. The techmarine would attach to the command squad. Thought process for picking him was to just add another IC to the command squad, forcing an opponent to spread his attacks out rather than lumping all onto the squad itself. The idea of a roving mechanic is nice, but I am willing to toss him out in favor of something better.

The 3rd bike squad (w/ HBs and plasma) lacks melta as I don't have the parts to kit them out with meltaguns and MM. So, I decided to give them more of an anti-infantry punch instead. I am not completely sold on this either.

Scouts go in the storm and hopefully, capture/contest objectives.

So, there it is. Have at it.

you need more models. Im not sure why your bringing a land raider, just bring more bikes and more power fists on the bikes.

Arnt the fast attack bikes cheaper than land speeders?

I would drop the Termies and LR because well they don't really match the list. As Smitty said: more bikes/melta/fists.

There are two ways to run a bike list: lots of bikes and nothing else (suicidal most of the time) or some bike and lots of long range.

I always run my 5-man scouts with LSS. The problem is they won't be able to do much with only combat blade. I run my scout with 1x combi-melta + power fist. They always take out a vehicle on turn 1 (i.e. making the point back).

MM/HF speeders is not a good option. Typhoon/HB are way better. You already have the midfield with bikes, why clutter them with MM/HF.

You already have terminators as your killing machine. They do it much better than command squad. You can either take 10-man deepstrike or take advantage of outflank rule of Khan and put 5-man in LRR coming in from the sideboard. (Tank shock as you roll in as necessary)

In objective game, I don't think you will be winning since you have nothing on foot that can capture objectives on the second floor.

I like the idea of the list. I think the command squad on bikes is probably better as a quad melta/plasma unit rather than CC. Use it to suppport the termies not try and do the same job as the termie.

I've just built a techmarine on a bike myself, the power weapon, plasma, flamer combo seems too good to miss.

I personally like attack bikes in the FA slot rather than speeders, but either can work.

While White Scars, I would still be tempted by normal captain on bike and not Khan. At 2k you can then look to fit Vulkan in with the termies as well - that twin-linking TH/melta/HF would really work here.

The more I think about it, I agree with a lot of the comments above. I really liked the idea of an outflanking Land Raider full of Assault Terminators. It may prove out to be more cool in concept than application, but there is only one real way to find out.

I need to go home and look at my codex to get the point costs straightened out, but I think I will be making some changes. I just bought the Ravenwing box and a command squad box, but I have not put them together yet. I think I will hold off on the command squad until I get another Ravenwing box. In the meantime, I will tinker around with either maxing out the bike squads (and then combat squading them) or adding a 6 man biker squad (with no attack bike for now).

Land Speeders will definitely switch over to Missile launchers. I got so MM obsessed it never occured to me to give them range.

Thanks for the input.
