A bit too cartoonish for my tastes.

RKE Materion Sci-Fi 15/20/28mm Terrain Preview 2

We have the last preview for the upcoming Materion Future Tech Terrain.

We have pictures of the last 4 buildings that come with the Future Tech set as well as the double wide scenario building. There is now a detail shot of all 13 buildings on the website.

Next up we have shots of the city props that may be scattered throughout your table layout as well as the 15 city tiles that may be used to construct your city grid. (Alternate Sidewalk/Ground Tile without grid included) We have also posted an example city layout to show how the street tiles are used to create your city grid.

We have also updated the 28/32mm compatibility information with a free download of a building face in black and white so you can print it out for yourself to see how your 28/32mm miniatures would look in front of the future tech buildings.

The RKE Materion Sci-Fi Terrain set will be available on Monday, April 2nd in PDF form for the introductory price of $12. After the first 400 sales the Materion Sci-Fi terrain will be permanently restocked at $16.

Materion is a easy to build terrain system that focuses on simplistic design with great graphics so you may build an entire 4x8' wargame table chock full of Line of Sight colorful goodness in a single day.

For all previews pictures, links and files go to www.rkegames.com

The zoomed out pics look a bit cartoony but when printed they are dark/atmospheric. They still might be too cartoony for you. You might like the next set off destroyed terrain with desaturated colors.

interesting product. I see that the sidewalks are grid and the streets are hex. I would strongly recommend both grid, both hex, or having both options in the set.

If it were a larger scale, I would use this with Infinity minis.

Maybe "cartoony" isn't exactly the right word for it. What bothers me is that they look exactly like "brown and bloom" video game graphics that everybody uses these days. Combined with the outlandish panel and window shapes, the buildings look like they were ripped straight out of a grimdark first person shooter.

Sorry, I updated this later on the website, I couldn't update the name of this topic however :(

RKE Materion Future Tech Paper Terrain
Suitable for 15/20/28/32mm Scale

Can the 20mm Materion Terrain be used with 28/32mm games?
This shows a 32mm box space compared with a 24mm space. The answer is yes buildings can barely be used for 28/32mm.

Although it was not specifically made for 28/32mm terrain, the RKE Materion Future Tech Terrain is more than capable of being used for the larger scales.

Buildings print fine as they are. They are a little short (for instance the doorways should be a bit higher above a 32mm miniature's head, but they still look great and are more than passable.

Street tiles are not in scale concerning street lanes, however they still look good no matter. The sidewalk tiles work great.

As for the city props, the large crates, pipes, security pillars, tall walls and power obelisk may be used for 28/32mm scale. The media billboards may also be used, however they are no longer billboard sized but are now more bus stop large advertisement sized.

Download Sample
Click here to download the front page of this building in black and white to print out and test for yourself. The default size is for 20mm but as you can see it may be used just barely for 28/32mm as well. Print at 70% for 15mm.

Download B&W Scale PDF to test with your figures:

You can change the name of the topic if you edit the first post, BTW.

This are very artistic, and the bright colors might suit some games. I, however, am greatly anticipating the desaturated versions you mentioned earlier. I like the gritty-real feel when I make terrain, so I'm eager to see how these translate.
