A friend of mine sold me some of his unwanted pieces as well as parts, so I decided to get into Warhammer 40k finally. I've just finished up putting the final painting touches and this is what I've developed. The focus on the army is all about applying pressure to the enemy, as well as being able to capture objectives with a combination of high movement pieces, as well as coverfire. Feel free to pick it apart.

"Twilight Ravens 500pt Army"

1 Chaplain w/power fist, Jump Pack
5 Assault Marines (Sarge with Power Fist)
7 Scouts with:
2 Bolters
1 Shotgun
1 Heavy Bolter
2 Snipers
All with Active Camo
1 Whirlwind with Heavy Bolter

I have played with the idea of switching the Whirlwind out with a Dreadnought, but then I believe the team would lose some of the ranged power.

I think this army would go fairly well in competitive. My one criticism is the armaments of the scouts, as having weapons like shotgun's and sniper's can be a huge disadvantage.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't you need two troops choices? Or at 500 are you guys waiving the force organization chart?

Apart from that, I'm going to echo bane. Nice army, but the scouts seem a bit all over the shop. Give them all shotguns or snipers, they are the two coolest weapons they can get

I wish I had time for all the game systems I own, let alone want to own...

Thanks, Yeah looking at it now, one random Shotgun amongst Bolters and Snipers wasn't the best course of action. I'll just rip off his arm and put a Bolter on...Thats how real Space Marines do it, right?

Unless he's playing blood angels, maybe?

Other than that, at 500pts, a Chaplain is probably a good choice, if you have to use the Force organization chart!

Is there a permanent stickied thread for Chaos players to complain every time someone/anyone gets models or rules besides them? If not, there should be.

Usually 500 points doesn't have FOC, so he may not.
