Does anyone even do this? How do you keep things straight if more than one unit of Purifiers or Strikers is involved in an assault?

I mark the rims of my bases a different colour for each unit, at the back of course.

Colours for the heraldry of each marine works.

So one squad may have red/black, one red/white, one black/white, one black, white and red.

Each marine in the squad gets their own specific pattern.

If you really want a lot of variants you can use a division of the heraldy to display that of the squad leader.

Usually on those little heraldic shields for Terminators, and maybe shoulder pads and/or greaves for Power Armor Marines?
