Has anyone noticed that the Spider Queen is an independent hero in the Moria and Angmar sourcebook but in the Mordor sourcebook they are just normal heroes capible of leading a warband (which opens up the possibility for an all spider warband which is pretty cool in my mind).
Now, this looks like a classic GW proof-reading error and they are probably both supposed to be one or the other but I can't work out which. Personally I'd like to see them be non-independent heroes, however realistically they are probably supposed to be independent heroes (Spiders leading other spiders does seems a bit strange).
What are your thoughts?

thats actually how it should be. the idea is that spider queens are shelob's children hence there are more round mordor then moria/mirkwood/misty mountains.
i ran accross this same issue, instead i'm taking the queen as an independent char, and having ashrak lead a tonne of giant spiders.

Fair one, but it still seems silly to me
Out of interest, how well does that list work?

Why does it seem silly? I have an all spider WotR list that I have easily transferred to LotR. And while it may be a one trick pony list, it is still extremely thematic and likely more thematic than most lists you will find people playing in LotR or WotR. Plus, it looks sexy as hell.
Mine is based on early age stuff though as Shelob reps Ungoliant and everything else is just her dark progeny.
I use the giant goblin WHFB spider for Ungoliant/Shelob. Goblin spider rider spiders for the giant spiders. Maelstrom giant spiders for spider queens and recast GW spider queen brood swarms for the same so I dont have to spend $50 on two measly spider bases. Looks good and arguably looks better than the LotR spider models available, is fairly economical for the points as it is much cheaper to buy bulk spiders in plastic than metal or failcost.

I didn't mean that sort of list seems silly, I mean I think its silly that spiders queens are independent heroes in one sourcebook but they 'free' heros in another.
I meant no offence to your army; which looks pretty awesome from the list you posted.

No offense seen either. I understood what you meant actually.
I was wondering why you thought it was silly for it to have 1 role in a list and another role in a different list.
I gave the examples I did because it allows for more theme to play a integral role than just having the same restrictions across the board.
I really do think the choice to make it different in separate lists was for the sake of thematic cohesion.

In which case I apologise, seems I'm just confusing myself!
Yeah your reason does make sense
