Hey everybody, some friends and I have been checking out Warmachine/Hordes a bit and like the artwork, models, and atmosphere of the game, but have no idea how it works. I skimmed over a copy of the rulebook, as well as descriptions of some factions, but man is it confusing. Do you guys have any advice for getting started?

You can download the starter rules for free at the PP site. Proxy with some of the basic models in the starter rules to get a feel and then move on from there.

I would download the starter rules and then run a few games with different factions. That way not only do you get an idea of how the armies differ but you also can figure out your preferred play-style. As for picking a faction I have been able to just pick them based off the models I like and then adapted a play style to fit them.
