Hey dakkadakka, havent posted in a while now. Wanted to post my 1850 Imperial Guard Mech list to see what you guys think. Here it is!!!

Honestly I think there's too many upgrades put into the sergeants and the commanders for the list. 5 plasma pistols and a power sword, that's 85 points on an 1850 list. The next thing I feel is you have too many plasma squads for the 1850 points level, personally I think you're better off dropping the two vet plasma squads for melta, and on the hq squad drop down to 3 plasma and a medi-kit it makes for more survivability. Next, lascannons on a LRBT make me cry a bit, since they are a single shot weapon for anti-tank when the battlecannon should be used for anti-infantry. Finally if you're going to go vets as troops, go no less than 5 squads of vets in chimeras or you just won't have enough troops. In a mech list for IG at 1850 you want to run at least 6 chimeras, otherwise you aren't putting enough targets out there. With the points you save by cutting the extras I think you should be able to get at least another vet squad.

Here's an example of my 1850 Mech list, that might help give you ideas that in the future you can make your list stronger.

As always YMMV, and you're free to play any list you want however.

I don't find the Lemon Russ a worthwhile investment in lists under 2k. You are better served with artillery. I wouldn't double up on Manticores though - Medusa are worth considering. I do think having a single small platoon is helpful to take cheap SWS to mount in the Vendettas.

OP, what kind of mileage do you get out of those plasma pistols?

I would probably drop the Primaris and 95 points of other stuff to get another Melta Vet / Chimera squad. I'm not really sure what he's doing for your list here. Or maybe you could put in a Psyker Battle Squad in Chimera?

I agree that you should drop the LCs on the LRBTs and just stick with HHBs.

I would ditch Plasma rifles for Meltas. At least then you don't need to be too concerned about Gets Hot. As well, if this is a take all comers list, odds are, half the opponants you face will try to get in assault range of you anyways, so the range drop won't hurt too much, and your better for Dreadnauts, Broadsides, Terminators, etc.

Looks like another derivative netlist. It should perform relatively well though if you know how to play. If you drop some of the junk you can fit in another vet squad.

Yea, except it doesn't. Just because he opts for some of the better stiff doesn't make it unoriginal. The Codex has been out for years - what can he do to appease your need for originality? Ogryn? Rough Riders?

I think he should consider a platoon and test out other, better Russ variants or artillery.

It's not a totally optimized netlist but a netlist derivative it is nonetheless. It's not a bad thing. It will perform decent. I'll edit out the unoriginal part so you don't get your panties in a knot.

The list I made had no intentions of being unorginally. It was made to play well and win. Btw I didn't spam Vendettas, I have 3 of them not 6. Vets squads are probably my favorite troops to use just because of their versatility. So don't call it unoriginal and insult my list.

...so Space Marines that use Tactical Squads in Rhinos are a netlist? Or Grey Hunters in Razorbacks? Be real man, nothing is new in the internet, so don't dog him for a few of the best the Codex offers and help him with the list.

Mate its not an insult. Like I said it will perform well. There's a reason why people like these types of lists...

Just to clarify I will reiterate my suggestion specifically for those that didn't pick up on it in my first post in the thread. Drop some of the junk that is only situational: plasma pistols, power weapon, and the psyker. You almost have enough for another unit already... Do this or add in more long range fire.

Actually, to describe it as a"typical unoriginal netlist" is rather insulting. Nonetheless, a poor choice of words should'nt overshadow your overall point. I agree withthe idea of ditching the Psyker and the Plasma Pistols in favour of re-allocating points towards Long range fire support.
