So fenrisian wolves are not really explained well. By not explained well I mean, they are purchased as wargear - but are they a unit (characters with them can join other units)? if my thunderlord has 2 of them and one dies to shooting does he have to take a moral check - if so, does he get to re-roll failed checks because he's on a thunder wolf? i have played space wolves since the new codex came out but I am the only space wolf player at my store and i have never even bothered to use the wolves.

I would say no. Because the fen wolves are wargear they are more or less just additional wounds and attacks. If you view them as wargear then that means losing one just means the character would not have to make leadership check because independent characters dont make leadership checks for wounds they take. Its only if the squad looses 25% of models. Although if you take the wound on a fen wolf and inflict none on an opposing enemy during an assault then technically you would have to take a leadership check for loosing a combat, but for that you would not reroll becasuse you would use the characters leadership.

They make the character a 1 - 3 model unit that can still join other units.

If you lose 1 wolf then you take a morale check, as the unit has lost 25% or more of the unit in one turn.

As Nos said. They work just like other similar models over the years (Grots, Tau Drones); they are both wargear and additional models in the unit. If they die, they can force Morale tests. If the owner dies, they vanish as they are part of his wargear.

do I get to reroll morale from being on a thunderwolf?

IS that what the rule says you get to do, or is it only UNITS of FW that get to reroll morale?

No.

A wolf Lord on a Thunderwolf is not a unit of Fenrisian Wolves.
Only units of Fenrisian Wolves would get the re-roll.

If the thought of something makes me giggle for longer than 15 seconds, I am to assume that I am not allowed to do it.

Would a fearless lone wolf have to take a moral test? if one of his two wolves died to shooting?

I don't think so as it is a unit with a fearless model as opposed to a unit joined by a fearless model. The wolves are joining a unit with this special rule in a similar way that a wg leading scouts gets their move through cover and outflank abilities. They are part of the squad from before deployment and subject to the rules of the squad.
Since a model joining a fearless unit gains fearless then I would say they get it too.

It's not the size of the blade, it's how you use it.
