I am thinking of buying the starter set for sixth ed when it drops for two reasons

1) The small rulebook and the how to play book (I assume it will be in there is was in the battle of Macragge box which is what I started with

2) The armies in the box, one will probably be space marines (I hope DA) and the other will be something else

Is this box set a good place to start another army (being the other army (not marines)) Can I field a 500 pt army with the box set and get up to 1000 pts for team tourneys.

The Starter sets are always a good buy, especially if you like both armies featured.

You'll need the rule book anyway and extra or new templates/rulers are always useful.

The only downside is that the models will likely be static poses. Having said all that, I've never bought a starter set and I've been around for three of them!!

Unfortunately there's no way of telling how many points will be in the set until it's released. I'm sure I've seen elsewhere on these boards the point costs of the Black Reach set and IIRC it's not 500 points a side. Don't quote me on that though.

Incredibly. They tend to be good values for the amount of stuff you get, plus the pocket sized rulebook is really good for people who need to learn the rules.

IIRC the Marines are around 550 and the Orks are around 480.

And I just quoted you on that.

I think you meant to say DA, as in Dark Angels, as that's what the original poster is hoping for.

Check out the News and Rumors section for a post about Dark Angels. It's covered there.

Also with AoBR you can easily make up a 600-750pt army with it depending on how you equip them. Make the boys Ard boys take them as a squad of 20 as the Warboss makes the Npbz troops and take suicide koptas.
