As far as I know fast cav have a free reform. Does fast cav need a musican at all, or is it unnecessary? I'm assuming the fast cav will not be in combat too much, and if so something has gone wrong.
For normal movement, no, the do not need a musician.
When you flee voluntarily from charges, and have to rally the next round, the +1 leadership is priceless as you will as likely as not be out of your general's Inspiring Presence range.
