So I'm determined to do this Red Hunters army that I've had in my head for a while. What I can't decide on is which Space Marine book to use: Blood Angels, Grey Knights, or Space Marines.

I've never played a game of 40k before, so I don't really know the differences between the three or how they play.

Things I know I want:
Librarian(using Sevrin Loth)
Assault Termies w/ Hammers and shields
Sternguard(gonna use MkIII iron armor for these)[I know that GK don't have these so I'll have to figure something out if I go with them]
a rifleman Dread(contemptor)
and probably 2 predators as I love the look of them.

The average size game locally is 2k. So if you could help me on list design as well that would help.

I'd go with Ultramarines...Oops, I mean, regular marines....They give you the greatest variety of different equipment.

4th company
The Screaming Beagles of Helicia V
Hive Fleet Jumanji

I'll die before I surrender Tim!

I would say Marines. With Blood Angels you kind of want to have some jump infantry.

I chose blood angels, their very similar to regular marines but ALL of their vehicles are "fast", they get access to the mighty storm raven, the Death Company absolutely destroys everything in it's path, you get a Librarian dreadnought (you read that right) LOL, you also get to take up to 3 priests with your squads ( giving them furious charge and FNP), and let's not forget the Sanguinary guard (golden armored badasses with a 2+ save and MC PWs). I mean, what's not to love about the Blood Angels. O Yea, we can deep strike Land raiders too.

It is the 3rd Millennium. For more than a hundred months Games Workshop has sat immobile on the Golden Throne of Nottingham. It is the foremost of wargames by the will of the neckbeards, and master of a million tabletops by the might of their inexhaustible wallets. It is a rotting carcass writhing invisibly with business strategies from the early Industrial Revolution Age. It is the Carrion Lord of the wargaming scene for whom a thousand veteran players are sacrificed every day, so that it may never truly die. Yet even in its deathless state, GW continues its eternal vigilance. Mighty battleforce starter-sets cross the online-store-infested miasma of the internet, the only route between distant countries, their way lit by a draconian retail trade-agreement, the legal manifestation of the GW's will. Vast armies of lawyers give battle in GW's name on uncounted websites. Greatest amongst its soldiers are the Guardians of the IP, the Legal Team, bio-engineered super-donkey-caves. Their comrades in arms are legion: the writing team and countless untested rulebooks, the ever vigilant redshirts, and the writers of White Dwarf, to name only a few. But for all their multitudes, they are barely enough to hold off the ever-present threat from other games, their own incompetence, Based Chinaman - and worse. To support Games Workshop in such times is to spend untold billions. It is to support the cruelest and most dickish company imaginable. These are the tales of those times. Forget the power of sales discounts and Warhammer Fantasy Battle, for so much has been dropped, never to be re-published again. Forget the promise of cheaper digital content and caring about the fanbase, for in the GW HQ there is only profit-seeking, Space Marines and Sigmarines. There is no fun amongst the hobby shops, only an eternity of raging and spending, and the laughter of former employees who left GW to join better companies.

Could I run Blood Angels without using jump infantry?

WE CAN DEEPSTRIKE LANDRAIDERS! I really have to look more closely into my codex! I got BA because of the noble aspect of their fluff as they are humble and not spiteful. They are just awesome! Yes, and the Death Company is not a scoring unit!

You could! The Death Company can be outfitted with regular backpacks also. You would be missing some close quarters fighters though if you did not get Assault Marines.

Well keep in mind that the fluff of the army is meaningless as they will be used as Red Hunters. I'm just trying to figure out the best book to use for them.

On a related note, I just bought Sevrin Loth on ebay as my librarian.
