Subject: Shrike and cheesy Terminators - HELP ME completing the list 'til 2000 pts PLEASE

Infiltrating Broodlord

Hi all, I need your help tryin' to complete a 2000 pts army. A little introduction. I have a well rounded main-army SW 2000 pts really shooty list. Modellink talking I choosed to customise all my models with the IRON HANDS looks. 1st because I love them, 2nd because they're actually rare and 3rd because they fit pretty well with the full of Dreadnoughts, Terminators "sergeants" and infantry based army (no TWC fyi). As a modelling side project I have started a uber customised character with jump pack. I will add some pic of him as soo as I go back home. Taking a look at the model you'll understand the "why" behind this post. Now, on the list. As we very ofter play apocalypse games in here, not necessarily with super-heavy models (D blasts and the like..), I would like to play a second army codex in communion with the SW and I was thinking about SoB in beginning. Having my customised jump packer leader as count-as Celestine. What I need however is a more solid CC support so why not a Shrike + a lot of terminators setup? Help me complete this list till 2000 pts pls: HQ - Shrike. 195 HQ - Librarian - TDA w/SS - Gate of Infinity - Null Zone (or Voltex.. maybe) EL - 10x Ass. Terminators - 7x TH/SS - 3x LC/LC. 400 (infiltrating with Shrike) EL - 10x Ass. Terminators - 10x TH/SS. 400 (gating in with the Libby) TR - 5x Scouts - Teleport Homer - Combi-melta. 100 [*] TR - 5x Scouts - Camo Cloaks - 4x Rifles - ML. 100 FA - Lans Speeder Storm - MM. 65 [*] This put the count to 1400. What to add to complete? Keep on mind that this list should actually be viable on his own if possible and not only as part of a big, multi-codex, apocalypse list (so FOC respectful).

Scout bikes are a little more survivable a lot of the time. Consider them instead of normal scouts. they have some nice other options as well.

I imagine some high strength long range fire power would support charging assault terminators well. How about spamming tornados and rifleman dreads? Edit: typhoons, not tornadoes.

Scouts are there just to fill the mandatory 2 Troops choices.
The only reason for of the unit without Camo Cloacks on the LSS is to provide a Teleport Homer for the first turn Gate of infinity The Librarian will cast, with 10 Terminators bodyguarding him.
This would be inevitably a second turn assault army.

Oh I know why they were there. But I am assuming you can put the homers on whatever you want. I'm suggesting that Bikes might be a better route. They are so much more adaptable after deployment and allow you a lot more freedom. I assume you're trying to get to 2000 points?

Unfortunately SM codex bikers can't take/have Teleport Homers.
Apart scouts and Tacticals no one else may have it and in the same time use a mandatory troop slot.

Yes they can. Scout Bikers can have Locator Beacons.

I would advise adding some more troops if you are going to use this outside of apocolypse.

I would take at least another landspeeder. You have 600 points to spare right now, and just one landspeeder isn't very threatening. Take at least two or three, that way your opponent has to choose which things to shoot at, and you can bet at least one will survive to shoot something. They will at least distract more fire away from your termies anyway.
Just my two cents!

Maybe you should be void of AV altogether. Break the meta, Spam 5 man units of scouts or min units of scout bikers with melta guns.

2 Land Raiders might be a fun alternative for getting 1 of the 10 Man Terminators you have combat Squadded and Rushed forward. Either That, or just fire support, bring some much needed Anti Tank (Lascannon, Melta), or more infantry (Redeemer, Crusader).
That is, if you want to go that Route. Probably Just enough Room in that to add one more Land Speeder @ 600 pts, too.

I would definitely suggest more troops if you care to play this list by itself. There's no way those scouts are going to make it across the board to take an objective. Perhaps a couple tac squads too?

Taking a second look at the list I am going to recommend (again) spamming typhoons. The list is too slow otherwise and needs high ROF, high damage output potential, that is mobile. Automatically Appended Next Post: TML/HB are 90 points each
or
dakka preds (AC/HB) at 85 points

I think that 10 combat blade scouts deployed 19" away would be fun.

If you are looking to get into your opponent's face fast, maybe a pair of drop pods with melta sternguard would be nice? Pop open vehicles for that second turn assault?

Boosting Space Marine Biker
|
How about something like this:
5 Sternguards with combi-meltas, Drop pod locator beacon
10 tactical, MM, meltagun, combi-flamer, Drop pod
This leaves 135 pts, wich should be enough for a small Scout bikers squad, with locator beacon, combi-melta and meltabombs on the sergeant (maybe even cluster mines for additionnal protection on your home objective).
BTW, I think Teleport homer don't work for Gate of Infinity but only for Terminators Deep striking on the field. Might want to check this. And I don't know how the jamming beacon on the LSS woul interact with the homer either...

Fun, perhaps, but does not seem to sure up any shortcomings in the list.
