Hey guys! Today I played a game with my club. It was a WW2 pacific island game. And I have the report with pictures! Now please go easy on me. I was trying type up this whole thing and play...not as easy as you guys make it out to be...anyway here it is and I will post some of the pictures...not really in any order either.

The Battle of Island X
Japanese held Island, heavily defended, in the way of the American Island hopping campaign must be taken at all costs in order for the campaign to continue. The island will then be used as a forward base to continue the campaign and prepare for the main land invasion of Japan.

Objectives:
Get on beach
Capture the beach; get a foothold on the beach and then advance
Protect forward observers
Keep “Brooklyn” Alive
Get reinforcements before advancing
Clear the island of all remaining Japanese forces

Turn 1:
Americans: Preparing last round of naval gun fire before the invasion. American Artillery turn one is super effective. Knocked out 2 bunkers and 1 fox hole killing 12 japs.

Landing craft movement: All landing craft move up 4 inches and prepare for the beach landing.

Japanese turn/shooting: Jap artillery lines up the approaching Americans and prepares to fire. Jap artillery was not very effective, most taken out by naval gun fire. And a LVTA was taken out by a heavy machine gun. The rest of the Jap heavy machine gun fire is just tracing the Americans. Japs continue miss as the pop shots at the Americans transports. Japs have a surprise 47 pointed right at the Sherman’s landing craft. Its lines up and hits the upper hull, punched a hole in the front of the landing craft. The tank is fine for now. Rest of the japs fire and miss, Now they are exposed.

Americans return fire: Tanks line up fire at the AT gun and miss. Strong currents and moving make the crew sea sick and they miss. Other tank crew line up bunker in sights and both miss, they saw a naked lady and became distracted from their duties. LVTA’s begin to pump out shots as well, and not effective all miss.

Turn 2:
American artillery: Was disappointing. Continue doing a good job of suppressing the Japs.

American Movement: Wave of American craft moves up in hopes of reaching the beach this turn but fall short.

Japanese artillery/shooting: Not very effective, however they do manage to pop a LVTA and all the marines pile out into the surf and lose 4 guys plus all their equipment essentially neutering the unit. And are pinned until rallied by an officer. Heavy machine gun fire does manage to damage the LVTA’s and their crew slowly chopping them to bits before they even hit the beach. A strong surf pushed a LVTA up and exposes the suspension of the tank, the Japs fire a volley and managed to wreck the suspension.

Americans return fire: Americans return fire barely being effective. Yet one LVTA with a blown suspension manages to cut down a Jap heavy machine gun.

Turn 3:
American artillery: Heavy suppressive fire, and denying line of sight to a lot of Japanese machine positions. Does a good job of pinning multiple Japs.

American movement: Half of the fleet manages to make it ashore while the others are still stuck in the surf.
Japanese shooting/shooting: Relatively ineffective. The LVTA’s armor proves too much for the Japs heavy machine guns. They manage to get shots but nothing serious. Jap artillery is very ineffective as well. Although it does do a good job of scaring the gak out of the Americans.

Americans returning fire: The broken suspension LVTA manages YET AGAIN to hit a Japanese heavy machine gun team, however it does not managed to finish them off yet they are pinned. Other than the few Americans shots the returning fire is poor as the marines still push on towards the beach.

Turn 4:
American Artillery: Big Mama brings about the naval guns and hit the Japanese extremely hard this turn. One big gun managed to destroy a crucial Jap bunker. And as a result a bunch of secondary explosion go off from hitting the ammo dump. BOOM. Killing many officers as well and also killing the AT gun effectively any chance of the Japs destroying the Americans tanks. No bonzai…
American movement: The remaining American troops hit the beach at full force. Some choose to stay in their LVTA’s while others choose to pile on out and setup gunning position hopping to do some damage soon.

Japanese Artillery/shooting: Japanese artillery as expected was exceptionally poor. Manged to kill a few disembarked marines. Now the jap heavy machine gun fire takes aim and begins to open up on a marine squad. Manages to kill the Mortar causing a morale check however marine being marines, shake it off and keep fighting. Another team sees marines piling out of a LVTA and seizes the opportunity and lights it up killing off a bazooka squad and a marine. Down the beach the japs open fire on the advancing LVTA’s and managed to wreck one killing the crew but the marines are lucky enough to escape. And then yet another jap machine gun manages to open up on the already shot up marines squad killing the company commander. And causing a morale check for the other to gents. They shake it off giving the japs the finger yelling “Your gonna pay!”

Americans return fire: Open up on almost all of the Japs heavy machine gun position and bunkers. Though still moving the Americans manage to fire multiple rounds and while hitting close to nothing they do cause pinning and morale checks all around.
Objective Get on the beach= Complete.

Turn 5:
Now that the Marines are all over the beach American naval artillery stops firing until forward observers are deployed and start requesting fire support.

American movement: The left flank has been getting hit hard all day. So the marines hop out of the LVTA’s and spread out. The LVTA’s stay put in order to provide a base of fire and get off some good shots. The marines pick up the satchel charge and move on out and into cover hoping to avoid getting blow to gak. The Middle flank marines unloaded and took cover while dodging bullet left and right. The right flank. Once again the marines unloaded and ran for cover. Now that the marines are on the beach it is only a matter of time before taking the beach and completing another objective.

Japanese artillery/shooting: Is now actually doing something productive for a change. They manage to blow up a marine carrying a flame thrower. They also manage to blow up a tank on the right flank. And they line up a large squad of marines on the right flank and take aim and fire. Along with the middle. Both are taking heavy fire and begging to suffer causalities. The middle lost 2 HQ’s, 2 mortars. And the right side lost several men plus a medic they also blew up a LVTA. They shot up everything else with heavy machine guns. Causing multiple pinning and lots of moral checks and manage to jam a tank turret. Lost many marines, however they all managed to stay put during moral checks.

Americans return fire: Shermans line up a bunker in its sights and then it earns its pay. 4 tanks took plenty of shots and managed to blow up 2 bunkers. Only a few pockets of Japanese resistance remains on the beach before its claimed. The marines who move out of the LVTA’s took shots at a fortified position and managed to kill 2 japs even while they were moving. The right flank begins to show some signs of life and starting shooting up the japs positions in hopes of eliminate the resistance on that side, so they can capture the beach. They did manage to kill a jap hiding in the trenches. 50 Cal took a shot from the AM track and managed to take suppress the bunker.

Turn 6:
American movement: The left flank all moved up and the marines who were out ran flat out and hide behind the LVTA for cover while the LVTA charged into a Jap position and crushed the lone solider. The middle unloaded the marines and move forward toward the trenches hoping to overwhelm the Japs and capture the trenches. The right flank moving on up.

Japanese artillery/shooting: Jap in trench see’s approaching Marines, decides to throw a mortar round. The round hits the tree bounces back and blows up him and his comrades. All other jap artillery is terrible and misses just about everything. LVTA blown to hell and back from jap mortar rounds and there are no survivors. Am track took a mortar to the back and killed the whole crew. Sherman turret jam. Random kills across the board from artillery. Jap heavy weapons is ineffective and doing absolutely nothing, yet as more and more shots go out the shots become more and more deadly and eventually take out a few LVTA’s.

Americans return fire: Americans are starting to establish a good amount of fire and slowly having better fire supremacy. Taking out bunkers one by one and softening up the enemy even more. There are still a few targets left on the beach before the beach is officially taken.

Turn 7:
Americans move: The left flank continues its approach toward the bunker hopping to flame it soon or throw a satchel charge in it. The right flank still has one LVTA that is good, so they unload and move forward to try and capture the last foxhole on the right flank. The middle everyone moved up. And the reinforcements finally arrived.

Japanese artillery/shooting: Hitting the left flank extremely hard. Dropping grenade and mortars shells all over. The left flank was BONZAIEDDDDDDDD by a few japs. An American Mortar team decided to fire danger close towards Jap bunker, and there was a strong wind, knocking the round off course and into the friendly occupied trench. Effectively killing 4 marines and a lieutenant. Pinning motile marines as well. Japanese heavy mortars fire upon left and middle flanks. Doing a solid job of NOT killing any marines but pinning them in masses. However the right flank is getting destroyed by heavy Jap mortars, killing 6 marines in one blast.

Americans return fire: Americans returning fire for heavy weapons are rendered partially ineffective, yet they were able to combine fire and take out a single bunker.

Hand to hand: Left flank, one guy survives a BONZAIIIII the other was killed while looking at a pretty bird. Middle flank, one jap who was pinned is overrun. A recovering Jap fought off one and killed the other. And then after a gruesome battle of 4 rolls the Jap officers loses the fight and is cut to pieces.

And that’s the game! We are out of time and the winner is…
Close American Victory

And there you have it. My first battle report. I know it is probably full of grammar mistakes and may seem a little confusing, please cut me some slack, picutres, playing and writing don't make for a great combination.

Mods, If I did anything wrong, I'm sorry. I looked and looked and looked but I could not find a place for Historical Miniature Wargames battle reports, so I figured it would go here! And if there are any problems please let me know. I don't want to get banned!
Other than that enjoy! And I will post pictures soon (like now depending on how long it takes)

Again, I cannot see any of the photos. Even when I click onto the Flickr account.

I get the small side photos, but the large image remains a mystery.

The other link, with the assortment of pictures works.

Nice looking battle. What ruleset does this game use?
