Hey so im not sure if this is the right place to post this but anyways... ive been playing warhammer for 2 years now and at first played fantasy as lizardmen. After that me and my dad switched to 40k and made IG and SM (which we shared) both around 2000 points plus 2 black reach sets worth of orks and around 750 points of necrons. Right now im deciding wether to switch away from crons or go to a new army. Im not really fealing the feel of the army. Right now im looking at either space wolves, or a chaossy army (definetly not DE though). I dont care about competivenes but just a fun fluffy army. If I go space wolves I want to field a thunderwolf based list. Im not sure about chaos though because really i just am getting bored of the good (I did not play the orks at all and count the necrons as good guys just not imperium good). I want to have a very melee based army or in the case of CM i wouldnt mind haveing like a hlaf shooty army. Strategic tips and advice are all welcome but fluffy and hacky is what im going for since all of my other armys are shooty. Thx for anything that comes around

As for your actual army choices, you seem to be pretty content with a second Marine army. A Space Wolf list built around Thunderwolves is pretty cool, and can be very powerful. Space Wolves are probably the best balance of close combat and shooty you could look for, since they can shoot as well as any Marine (in some cases better, with the addition of cheap Long Fangs) and can fight in hand to hand better than they have any right to. Just their basic Grey Hunters are kind of obscene in how cheap and good they are.
Chaos is something I would probably wait a little bit on. They're allegedly being updated in the Summer. However, most units that are in plastic will likely still be solid choices, like basic Chaos Space Marines, Rhinos, Predators, Terminators, Daemon Princes, and so on. If you did choose Chaos instead, just stick to plastic as much as possible and you'll be good. For choppy you can't go wrong with Khorne Berserkers, and for a balanced shooty/choppy unit, the standard Chaos Space Marines with icon of Chaos Glory
are pretty solid troops.

The HELL!? Necrons are soulless ancient killing machines bent on extinguishing all life in the galaxy. You consider them to be "good guys"?

As Brother SRM said, the Space Wolves are a pretty balanced CC/Shooty army and have a very good codex that is both fluffy and competitive. Chaos is suppose to be getting a new dex soon so they might change here, but they can be very fluffy and can be tailored to do alot of things. so its probably up to which models you like the most

If you're interested in Chaos and CC and don't mind being on the bleeding edge of competitiveness, I would go for Chaos Daemons. Most of the models are very well done and they have some of the better CC units in the game IMO.

You want a close combat army that's one of the "bad guys"? You don't get much closer to CSM than that. They're getting a new codex, but their core units won't change (they'll just get more expensive at the gaming store, so buy models soon), and the new codex will come out probably long before you're finished assembling the army, so you can always make changes on the fly once the new 'dex comes out.

Thx for all the speedy responses, was not expecting that . Srry about the grammar mistakes im used to speed typing from to much computer games.
Im probably going to sleep on this. Where i'm at though theres not a GW store for just a few thousand miles of water or something like that but I do have a few flgs nearby. I'm sorta teetering towards space wolves though because I want to also field logan grimnar just because my names logan At the moment though I only have enough to get 1 batttleforce. What do the sets contain if thats legal for you to tell me? Which would be a better starting place? If I cant decide ill probably just proxy the basics in a few mock battles against my friends.
