Dakka please help!

I am trying to find a cheap way to get a hold of 30 sanctioned psykers and 2 primaris spykers, I have tried the swap shop and no nibbles so i am trying to find cheaper alternatives (cheaper than $180 new).

are there any companies that make decent psyker models i can buy in bulk? one of my options is to get the wargames factory infantry and use the great coats with some bald heads.

please help im itching for a mass IG psyker build but i would like to avoid the 180 dollar hit.

also whats the deal with only selling psykers in packs of 3? you need 5 for a squad (or at least 4 and an overseer) marketing ploy or serious oversight?

Psykers used to be advisors to your army, much like Commissars. That's why they're only in packs of 3. As for converting, I wouldn't use the Wargames Factory models. Their detail is kind of greasy and soft, and doesn't look very good. Your best bet would be a conversion involving Empire Flagellants and whatever Imperial bits you see fit:

If quality isn't a huge issue, Mega Miniatures sells metal models for like $2 each.

I just searched wizards on their online store and came up with this: http://freeboardgamesnow.com/search.aspx?find=wizard

They also have some cool stuff, like "not-Cadians"

Haha, seriously! Great old school flavor

I'm considering buying a bunch of civilians as use for mutants in my Lost and the Damned army, just for funsies

Also, @ the OP: Check auction sites. Sometimes you can find psykers and models who would go well as psykers for a lot cheaper than retail price.

Kind Regards,
Vladsimpaler

You can use Empire flagellants. They kind of look like psykers, and they have all kinds of crazy bits so your guyts are customized.

I proxied mine. I use servo skulls. I never really liked the fluff behind psykers (I know blasphemy!) I just say the servo skulls can call in a blast and use their abilities to weaken the leadership of a squads, I dont know nano bots or something.

It was much much cheaper to buy servo skulls on ebay. Just a thought, you can go outside the box.

You'd look strung out too if you had the powers of the warp raging in your head 24/7, let alone some commisar guy following you everywhere just itching to blow your brains out at the first sign of trouble.

Are warmachine models okay to play with? will other players crucify me for this? I don't have a FLGS where I am currently but I might in a few months after I move. My two main opponents won't care do other players have any peeves about this?

Something quite a few people do is use the Empire Flagellant kit.

Gives you a lot to work with.

Flagellant kit + leftover laspistols is pure win.

Not to mention that the Flagellant kit is bursting with extra bits.

I used Cadian torsos and arms with legs from WHFB High Elf Archers and converted some of them to be carrying staves. I also gave GS robes to a couple (I ended up with one more than you can actually field and so I use one with a staff and hooded robe as an Astropath). It helps to add things like pouches and holsters to their belts to hide the fact that High Elf waists are narrower than Cadian ones. Then I added whatever heads looked suitable - I used quite a few heads from Catachan Command Squads though I have a couple of normal Cadian heads in there too. For their Overseer I simply used a normal Guardsman with a laspistol.

I had also bought the WHFB Empire Battle Wizards and converted one to be a Primaris Psyker (I put a GS beard on the masked Wizard head, then gave him a laspistol and one of the swords from the High Elf box). That meant I had a spare model from that box; he became another member of the squad.

Driven away from WH40K by rules bloat and the expense of keeping up, now interested in smaller model count games and anything with nifty mechanics.

warmachine quality is about as good as GW metal minitures. My biggest gripe with them is that my first box of their daughters of the flame to be used as DCA for my GK army was missing 2 sets of arms from the factory shrink wrapped package so I was kind of pissed at them.

lets just compare the two though sanctioned psykers versus the battlemages

Psykers

http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?prodId=prod1070051

Battle mages

http://www.thewarstore.com/product49905.html

Which one looks like its actually a powerful being? the battle mages have bald heads that i can mod into psyker heads but they present an aura of power where the imperial psykers present a decrepit look

Battle mages look a little OTT elvish with weird gauntlets though. Meh, depends on the aesthetic of your army, I suppose.

i agree that they look like they are DW powerfists but im going to grind sown the ears and paint them with a lot darker colors (black and red with silver) the powe lines in the armor is going to be sky blue (or ice blue i forget the name). if all else failes i have enough left over arms that i can pull them together.

I am imagining that they would use the OTT gloves to be conduits for their psychic powers much like the staffs are.
