I was wondering how many guys out there let the girlfriends paint their models?
I let mine do it and she paints better that me (to me uter dismay )
and if so how well do they paint?
Just though I would ask
Cheers

So if the opposite of Pro is Con, Would that mean Congress is the opposite of Progress?

I would be glad to support Australia's PM, once we figured out who last's long enough.

and here I was thinking something entirely different based on your title..

My Wife will occasionally help out in the painting arena when we are having hobby time... she enjoys basing my figs, which I generally dislike doing.. so, I hand off the completed models to her to finish up.

In return, I do gardening work with her..

My girlfriend has helped snip parts from sprues.

That's about it. She's never really done any painting, so there's not too much she can help with.

The last time I had her help, she got liberal with the blood effect, and my color scheme, and now I have a model that has blood everywhere, and it totally does not match the rest of the army.

The only figs she now paints are the ones I am not going to use anytime soon.

Let her paint? I actively (well, somewhat actively) tried to get her to paint. That was my greatest hope for getting us time on me terms, if you get my meaning - getting her into one of my hobbies instead of having to search for something different that we'll both enjoy.

Sadly, as much as she vocalized interest, initially, that warboss sat, primed and lonely, for a full year before I gave up all hope and painted it, myself. Even if she had the time, nowadays, I doubt she'd seriously entertain the idea. We play the odd boardgame and she supports my hobby (passively, if not outright indifferently, but hey, it could be worse!) - that's good enough for me.

My Ex- girlfriend would sometimes help me paint my chaos army...One day she decided to paint my Chaos lord when I was at work. I was filled with agony, seeing that is was painted so well, and better than i couldve have ever painted him.

When we broke up, we pretty much fought over who would keep him...In the end I finally got custody over him.

I got lilith for my wife to paint she enjoyed it and now has a high elves army on the go. Got us the ilse of blood starter pack for Xmas so she's currently painting that up. I just set her up with a username and keep telling her to post pics as they are much better than I could do when starting out.

I have been trying to get mine into it as well after she showed a little interest. We even assembled a few miniatures together which I will not paint. So far all she does is undercoat figures, nothing aside from that so far.
So now I have two alpha marines, one a champion, in stealth suits aka black undercoat.

One of my ex's helped me paint spider riders when BfSP first came out. Her brother and his friends who lived together were gamers, so she grew up with nerds. I let another girl I liked paint an Empire spearman-*shudder* I wouldn't dare put that model on a real table

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

My Fiancee (for three more months!) doesn't paint any figures, as the small scale of detail daunts her. But I do pass most of my paint schemes by her when I finish them, for her opinions.

My wife's a better painter than I am, and would rather sever my fingers than let me near her Eldar. I do the assembly, but she paints them..

Now if only she'd PLAY with them a little more often

Right now she's being seduced away from 40K by WM Cygnar

I would totally let my g/f paint some of my models. She's an artist, so I'm sure she can paint better than me. She would even go so far as to play 40k if it weren't so expensive.

Meh I'm a teenager its not that hard but I'll say its annoying when EVERYONE rants about the fact she can paint my own models better than her...

Haven't been able to talk the wife into painting yet. She says she wouldn't have the patience for it. She does like to watch me though. I did try and talk her into letting me take some body paints to her once though. The excuse being that I wanted to practice highlighting different muscles on a larger model to have a point of reference when I paint the mini's. Didn't work though, she did smirk at me though so maybe for my birthday. A guy can dream.

My wife is an artist.
She wants to paint up some models and she'll probably do better than me (her eyes work properly).

I've just to get her her own set of brushes.

Well my wife isnt painting my 40k army but she is painting my skaven army and she is much better than me even though i've been doing it for the last 14 years, of course my talents lie in writing not in painting so i dont really mind.

My Ex wife was an avid painter and collector. She loved Orks/Orcs and i gave her my huge Harequin Army from 2nd Ed, which she started to paint up. Before we split up, she gave up on the hobby saying she couldn't be bothered with it and I think that's what made me give up on the hobby for a while.

Now it's funny, because I was a little bit wary of letting any other future partners know that I painted and played war games, incase they thought I was a total nerd. I'm really surprised to find that is usually not the case, especially with my new girlfriend who doesn't paint or play, but thinks its pretty cool that I have a hobby.

My girlfriend (who is also my wife) works at the local hobby store painting minis, and also is the local commission painter. She has helped with every army I've done. She paints much better than me, which is funny, cause I taught her how lol

I can proudly say that while my wife grew up in an artist family and has painted better than me, I now feel that I have bested her as I've moved onto airbrushing which she has not mastered yet but I do much better (mostly since I probably spent some 200 bucks on paints <_<; And so far, airbrushing looks a lot more pro in my opinion (but you still end up filling in details with a bursh)

Ha! take that opposite sex! What I lack in raw talent I'll make up for with alot of time and dedication. Now a days, I'm just happy that she doesn't object too much to me spending money
