Hey, guys

I was thinking it would be nice to summarize issues that we're unable to resolve through discussion. The same issues tend to come up periodically, it would be convenient to have summaries of the problems in a centralized thread. We could also submit the issues to INAT council members/mods for their comments. That way we could get their thinking on the subject and also perhaps their rationale for the relevant INAT FAQ rulings.

Basically this occurred to me during a discussion about Necron "Lord of the Storm" usage from reserve. I believe we've narrowed the issue to one specific question, and have considered all (or at least most) of the relevant rules and similar cases. We're entrenched enough that the two sides aren't likely to resolve the problem. But, we have defined the problem well.

Both sides could write a one or two paragraph precis, and submit their positions to the mods/INAT council dudes. Then, when they get time and if they think it appropriate, they could respond with their views.

I think this would be a "good thing".

There is already a thread like this. It's called "40k FAQ submission thread for the INAT FAQ **w/v5.1+Appendix v3.0** (updated 3/1/2012)"

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

I've read that thread, it's not the same thing. That thread is for FAQ's we'd like INAT to answer. They've already ruled on Imotekh being able to roll from reserve on turns after the first, for example

This would be for deadlocked discussions, often on fairly minor points that don't rate a full FAQ, but that we'd like explanations for. In this case, for example, we're interested in whether inclusion in an army list as precondition for ability employment is a necessary and sufficient condition for ability employment from reserve. It'd require more explanation than ruling - we already know INAT ruled Imotekh specifically can do his thing from reserve, but we're not sure exactly what their reasoning was and whether it'd apply to similar rules.

So you want one thread covering multiple discussions that haven't been solved when in their own multi-page threads? No, its not a good idea.

Not a thread for starting or continuing discussions. One to submit for consideration by the INAT FAQ council or an attempt to appeal or reverse an INAT FAQ ruling.

That's what the INAT submission thread is for.
