Hi All,

First off ... a dose of honesty; I already started an alternative Space Wolf army a while back and have just recently been working on my fluff ... just wondering if anyone else out there has any feedback for me.

Link to the army in question >>> http://www.dakkadakka.com/gallery/images-28357-7795_The%20Wolves%20Templar.html

So they are called the Wolves Templar. Basically I am going for a feel that this was a great company that has formally split from the SWs ... and that is determined to revert back to the expansionist era of the Imperium. aka the Great Crusade prior to Horus mucking things up.

The Lord of this company took his cues from the way the Black Templars do things. So he decided that his company would dedicate itself to crusading in much the same way as the BTs. The catch 22 being that the BTs hate "mutation" (i.e. the canis helix) and psychers ... both of which my company has. So while the BTs probably like the idea of another chapter crusading ... they would not be fans of my army in general.

ANYWHO ... So the lord decides to take up the black armor and a heraldric cross as symbols of his (and by extension his companies) commitment to expanding/reclaiming what is "rightfully" the Imperiums.

One of the things I am struggling with is if the SWs would still be friendly with this company ... i.e. letting them continue to recruit from Fenris ... or if like the BTs, my comany would be forced to recruit from other worlds; becoming more nomadic, or perhaps establishing strongholds on worlds they see "fit" for recruiting (which i would assume would have to be VERY feral/fuedal)

I'm using straight forwards SW rules (since that is what they are) and really just working on fleshing out the fluffy details in all of their soft and squishy glory.

So any feedback on my color scheme, unit/pack markings, other modeling/painting ideas and/or any FLUFFY feedback would be appreciated.

MUCH LOVE TO THE DAKKA COMMUNITY AT LARGE!

first off I am going to say your models look amazing. I love black armor, one of the reasons I like wolf priests. anyways... It would be hard to say what the reaction from the chapter would be. I would think that SW would negatively react to their brothers leaving their doctrine. In some books and fluff reading I have found that SW will go hunt traitors down ruthlessly, but then it goes to question did your wolves templar have a schism with the Grand Annulus or did the Lord go up to Logan and receive a sort of blessing?

SW often get lost on their Great Hunts...
This could be a Great Company that went left instead of right and ended up in the wrong part of the galaxy.
They may have then joined forces with an under strength BT crusade and when they finally regained communications with their chapter they had already been replaced.
They then decide to join the BT and go with the chapter master's blessing.
They wouldn't be a true chapter (That may or may not be impossible) but it'd be alternative.

He would definitly have had a stone on the Annulus ... and I feel like the Lord would have sought Logan's "blessing" ... but I agree that while Logan might not have disagreed with the sentiment of going back to a crusading ideal, that he would still be forced to shun the company for diverging with the SWs at all.

As far as "joining" a BT Crusade ... I think the wolves would be willing to do so (being the jovial, bar house brawlers that they are) but the BTs I dont think would tolerate sharing a roof with "mutants and psychers" ...

hmmm ... all food for thought ... thanks for the replies so far, and please don't hesitate to give me more!

I don't think they are mutants...
I mean they have some fairly stable genetic divergence but it isn't mutation as far as the Imperium is concerned...

Oh I dont think they are either ... but I am sure that there are those in the Administratum and "Purists" in the 40k world that would view them with contempt because there is any genetic divergence.

Lets not forget that there are other marine chapters who simply will not use librarians (BTs included) because they view psyhic powers as mutations ... even though they still rely on astropaths to guide their ships.

The Imperium is a convoluted place no doubt...
