Having (foolishly) taken a glance through my Dakka gallery I was stirred to look in that dark box that all my incomplete projects slowly seem to disappear to courtesy of my wife deciding that 6 months on our lounge windowsill is more than enough. Having rummaged deep through broken bitz and severed arms (largely due to my display cabinet sandwiching my orks/necrons between 4 heavy panes of glass) I dug out some of ym work that I have been most proud of over the last 18 months and was left with one simple question.

Why cant I focus on one army

I keep starting my projects full of vigour and high hopes, currently working on my zombie guard which I love with a slightly twisted manner. However a few months in be it due to having to wait to but more models (low funds) and finding out something else will be released, running low on paints or simply finding the chore of painting a dozen ork arms identical I just seem to lose the will to paint. This has left me with a half dozen incomplete projects that I am oh so proud of but simply cannot complete?

Does this happen to anyone else, and if so how do you fight it?

I fully intend to field an army but ONLY when it is fully painted. I have dropped my target from 1000 to 500 on any army I start, and hope to one day enter tournaments (with alot of practice). But if I cant commit to one project then I doubt I'll ever make it.

My three proudest examples are below:

1) Zombie Guard, Blessed of Nurgle

A rambshackle group of AWOL guardsman, civilians and local PDF who made their pact with nurgle to beat overwhelming odds. The battle was one but their souls and bodies eternally lost to nurgles rot.
My current project, lots of converting and some chance to vary up paintjobs.

2) Necrons, Went through various themes, conversions didnt take well to falling glass shelves.

Loved the new range, new models and chance for converting, however there arent any similar enough non-necron kits for me to kitbash so all conversions are alot of work on me, or not different enough for me to feel proud of completing.

3) Orks, Evil Sunz Lootin Force

Long time Ork fan, love converting but there are -so- many models in a standard ork army that I get bored. Grots werent the best choice when trying to field fewer models and the only 4 big models there are converting and unique but... it trailed off.

Whats your stories, remedies and favourite incomplete projects?
