So we are all familiar with the insanely popular combination of psycannons w/ psybolt ammo, I know this is a stupid question but I just need to hear other people say it. Rending cannot make it str 11 right?

#1 Psycannons can not have Psybolt ammo.

Rending does not add Str at all. (though It can add to your Armor Penetration roll).

It will disallow an Armor save, or add a D3 to the armor pen roll.

E.G you roll to hit a infantry model. you hit 4 times, you roll to wound, and get 6,4,4,3 results in 4 total wounds, but the 6 is a rend and will disallow an armor save.

Vehicles work a bit different: Psycannon hits 4 times, rolls to pen a Land raider (AV14) rolls a 6,4,4,3 again, This results in armor pen rolls of Str7 +6+D3 (So 14,15, or 16 depending on the roll of a D3),Str7 + 4= 11 ,Str7 + 4= 11, Str7 + 3= 10 (Str7 +3)

I meant specifically against vehicles. As I understood is, it added d3 to the str of the weapon.

And it seems I got confused, I mixed up the autocannon and psycannon rules haha silly me.

Rending adds to the Armor Penetration roll if you roll a 6, t does not add to the Strength of the weapon.

Well that's still good information to have, I guess this thread wasn't an ENTIRE waste for me haha

Ya some guy cheated without knowing it and nuked several Leman Russ in a game against me from using phy bolt ammo with those. Of course he also didnt realize his dreadknights were jump troops so it was cool.

Only if he paid for the teleport packs....
