hi guys,

i have just started playing salamanders and i thought i would try and make some rules for Tu'Shan to go with my conversion, c&c Welcome:

At the time of the Second War for Armageddon, Tu'Shan had been Chapter Master of the Salamanders for three years. Since his tenure in this role was so young, taking on the massive wave of Orks sent forth by Ghazghkull Thraka was a daunting task; however by the end of the campaign, Tu'Shan was so respected that Commander Dante praised him in front of the entire Blood Angels chapter. Since that campaign, Chapter Master Tu'Shan has continued to lead the Salamanders honorably.
Chapter Master Tu'Shan holds the title of Regent of Prometheus. He is strong even for a Space Marine, and can be easily recognised by both the considerable number of honour scars he bears across his face and his cloak which is crafted from the scale of a 300 year old drake salamander.

Tu’Shan, Chapter master of the salamanders; Regent of Prometheus – 200 pts
(Tu’Shan is a HQ choice in a codex: space marine army)

WS BS S T W I A LD SV
6 5 5 4 4 5 3 10 2+

Unit composition: War gear: Special rules:
1 (unique) Artificer armour Chapter Tactics
Master-crafted thunder hammer Fire Drakes
Unit type: Combi-Melta Preferred enemy
Infantry (character) Drake scale cloak (Orks)
Iron Halo Combat tactics
Independent character
Eternal warrior

Tu’Shan may select a unit of honour guard to accompany him to battle this does not take up a slot on the force organisation chart but is otherwise treated as a HQ unit.

Options:

May replace artificer armour with terminator armour for free

May replace Combi-Melta with:
•Combi-Flamer or Storm Shield…………….…….free
•Thunder hammer………………………………...+15 pts

May replace the Master-crafted Thunder hammer with the Obsidian Sword for 20 pts

Special rules:

Chapter tactics:
If you include Tu’Shan then all units exchange the Combat Tactics special rule for the stubborn universal special rule. If more than one character in your army has chapter tactics special rule, you must choose which version will apply.

Fire Drakes:
One veteran squad (terminators, assault terminators, vanguard or sternguard) may become Fire Drakes; these warriors of the salamanders 1st company gain +1 Weapon skill. This squad acts as Tu’Shan’s personal bodyguard and replaces the honour guard. This unit does not take up any slot on the force organisation chart but is otherwise treated as a HQ unit, if Fire drakes are chosen Tu’Shan may not be accompanied by an honour guard.

Drake scale cloak
This cloak came from a 300 year old salamander which was slain by Tu’Shan himself in his rise to become chapter master. Its thick hide is bore out of the great volcanoes of nocturne. Representing strength and honour it fills nearby salamanders with pride and propels them to great feats of heroism in the name of Vulkan.

The Drake scale cloak grants any squad Tu’Shan joins (including Tu’Shan) the Feel no pain universal special rule.

Obsidian Sword
Crafted in the hottest volcano on nocturne the obsidian sword was awarded to Tu’Shan on his becoming the regent of Prometheus, its perfect blade reflects has felled many foes and is one of the chapters greatest only in the most dire situations is it wielded.

The obsidian sword is a master crafted relic blade.

(Note: The salamanders often fight to protect and have great empathy for others; therefore unlike most chapter masters Tu’Shan does not have the Orbital bombardment special rule lest it scatter on allies or those they are protecting.)

Few changes:

1. No artificier armour, he nearly always wears termie armour.

2. Change rules for the cloak, it just isnt that great and he needs a good invo if he doesnt come with a base storm shield.

3. Fearless makes no sense for Salamanders. Stubborn would work better, but seeing as that is already taken try and pick something else completely, like terms for troops or something.

4. Why 4 wounds? Drop it down to 3.

Veteran Sergeant wrote:In the grim darkness of the far future, the guy with a rifle is the weakest man on the battlefield, left to quake in terror, hoping the two or three shots he gets do the job before somebody runs screaming across the battlefield to hit him with an energized stick.

cheers for the feedback, i gave him 4 wounds as most chapter masters have 4 wounds calgar, draigo and dante (and lysander but hes a captain) spring to mind, and he is described as being quite a hard space marine covered in scars etc so i though 4 wounds fitted quite well. in the fluff salamanders are decsbribed as fighting to the last man never retreating or surrendering and i didnt want to go down the stubborn route as the fist characters already have that but non have the fearless rule and i thought it would make a nice change, but if stubborn makes more sense i can live with that other wise to the rule book! . i was a bit lost with the cloak as he already has an iron halo which is already a good save, maybe cloak allows re roll failed invulnerable save? i wanted to keep some equipment optional as salamanders are meant to be the smithy ones and i felt that ornate artificier armour seened to fit and add some flexibility in terms of the firedrake bodyguard eg sweeping advance.

just so you know if anything is about my idea of the fluff then i apologise and send myself to the corner
