Hi all,

I've got a newbie question, but I'm pretty sure someone can help me out with it.

Let's say I have a unit of 6 Necron Scarabs. Each of them has 3 wounds in the profile. At the current point (from previous turns) one of them has 1 wound left, two of them two left and the others are at full wounds. Now they get shot at and after roll to wound and saving there are 5 wounds left. If I understood the rules correctly I have to remove whole models wherever possible. But the rules also say I, as the owner of the Scarabs, may choose which to remove. So how does this work out? I could remove one model with 3 wounds and one model with 2, which would result in 2 models removed. Or I could remove one with 1 wound and two with 2 wounds, resulting in 3 models taken away. Could I choose between the two options? Or is one enforced?

Thanks!

All the scarabs are identical, so the only way I can think of your scarabs starting with that is to have run through a lot of dangerous terrain

Removing Casualties requires you to remove wounds from WOUNDED models FIRST

The exception is ID, when unwounded models from the same wound group are removed first

Unless the scarrabs were target by rare abilities that target models and not units, sunch as mind war, you shouldn't have a scarab with 1 wound left and another wound with 2 wounds left. In the case of units that consist with only of 1 type of models such as the scarabs you roll all saves collectively. For every 3 unsaved wounds you must remove a whole base, and put the remaining 1-2 wounds on one base. So always you have full bases and 1 wounded base. The next unsaved wounds must go to that base and any remaining wounds to a new one.

Copper - you forgot Dangerous Terrain, which wounds the specific model that tripped.

Yep, forgot about DT tests.

Unless you've encountered a specific rule that targets individual models, leftover wounds are held by the unit, not individual models. You currently have 5 wounds, which should result in 1 model removed and 2 wounds leftover. The next turn, when you take 5 more wounds, you add up the unsaved wounds and leftovers (7) - removing two whole models and leaving 1 wound on the unit.

If you have encountered special rules that wound individual models (leaving aside the DT issue for now), the requirement that you remove whole models when possible overrides the rule that you get to choose which models to remove. So 5 wounds results in the three specific models that were wounded being removed. You cannot choose to remove other identical models, it must be the three specifically targetted.
